little framed nest

13 March 2009

Happy Friday the 13th!
Coming up for air from working on the bathroom...it's not coming as fast as I'd like, but we're making some progress!
I just wanted to show you something I completely copied from the Nester. I saw this picture forever ago of one of her beautiful tables and put it in my "awesome ideas I want to copy" folder on my computer.
photo from the Nester
** Side note: If you don't have one of these folders, they are a lifesaver when you're surfing and see something you love, you can right click on the picture, save it into your folder, and can go back for the inspiration when you need it. I've also found that it's helpful to change the name of the picture to where it came from so you don't forget. **
So, I adored the picture of the little framed nest in the middle and I used it for my inspiration. I got a little nest at Michaels (near their greenery in little hanging packages), a piece of scrapbook paper, and my frame that I got from Target, and just hot glued the nest on the paper. The eggs are little faux quail eggs I found a couple of years ago when we were visiting Utah, but I was thinking that you could even use little white speckled Cadbury mini eggs in your nest. (as I've been examining them closely before shoving them in my mouth by the dozens)
My bird friend came from the bathroom to be perched next to it~if you know me, you know that rarely do things stay in one place for long in my house.
So, thank you Nester for the inspiration. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend~ *maybe* I'll have some pictures to show you sometime next week of the bathroom?? We'll see...

  1. I am catching up on blog reading, (really behind). This is so cute! I also love the pins from your last post. I have a St. Paddy's event to go to tonight and that green pin would have been perfect. See what you miss when you are absent for a few days? I've learned my lesson. You are always a pleasure to visit, Pam

  7. I've always loved that framed nest. So cute! I have so much stuff on my computer, so I recently started a Tumblr blog as well, just so I can save my inspiration pictures. It's great because you can link to that person's website for quick reference, and other people can browse, too! It's always fun to see other people's inspiration photos.

  12. Love this! I didn't spy the original at Nester's, so I'm glad you commented. I keep a photo inspiration file too, but didn't think to change the filenames to "where you found it." Brilliant! ThanX for the tip.

  14. I love, love, love this idea and love even more Cadbury chocolate eggs (so I probably shouldn't use them in this craft!). Thank you so much for copying the Nester. :)

  16. Hi Melissa! I recently came across your blog. As I looked at your family picture, I realized we went to school together in Missoula. Blogland is not so "Big" after all. My name is Naomi Anderson (Maiden was Carr). Not sure if you remember me? I went to Washington Middle Schol and only went to Sentinal for a few years before moving away. I hung around with Jeanette Blize, Bethany Balyeat, Catie Cook and Malin Stearns. Your blog is awesome! It's A Wonderful Life is also my favorite Christmas movie. I have enjoyed looking at all your projects, especially your recent bunny makeover, too cute!

  19. What a sweet little display! Your bird looks precious sitting next to your framed nest. :o)
I also keep a folder on my desk top for ideas. What a life saver! :o) If there is something that I am really wanting to do, I will actually place the image as my desktop background. :o)
I love the Nester! I can't tell you how many ideas I have because of her! :o)
