gallery wall after

26 September 2011

I wanted a wall full of good memories and things that have meaning to us. But I didn’t want it to look too uniform or matchy…more of a collected over time look.sept 2011 140 1

And yes, I warned you I was going to paint the dresser!
sept 2011 132 1The two round frames above with the carriage prints ^ and the 3 oval ones below are supposed to be holding my kids’ silhouettes, but I haven’t quite gotten to them yet…sept 2011 116 1

  1. Hi Melissa! I found your blog by googling "most popular decor blogs" and I'm so glad I did. I love your style, and this before and after of your foyer specifically is gorgeous! I'm definitely your newest fan :)

  4. I've been wanting to make a picture wall but the only long wall I have is in the hallway across from the laundry area. Does a picture wall always have to be on a long wall and do all frames have to match? DH hates to hang pictures and he never seems to get them straight even after using a level, careful measuring and marking the spot.  Same way with hanging shelves.  Is there a secret to making a picture wall? What about using walls that are framed out by a large window in living room?

Woah what a transformation, very inspiring! I love how the chairs are the same color as the telephone :)

  7. So beautiful!!  I know you said that you didn't like your vent cover; if you paint it the same color as the wall it will blend more.  Saw that on HGTV.

  10. Everything looks great, but I can't stop looking at that phone. I am old enough to remember using dial phones, so I am feeling rather nostalgic.

  23. you`ve totally outdone yourself here.  i mean, the rest of your home is gorgeous.  but THIS, this is something else.  i absolutely love gallery walls.  i have family photos dating back to the late 1800s - early 1900s.  i`ve been so intimidated by gallery walls because i can`t get the frames down pat.  you`ve done an amazing job mixing and matching photo frames.  i don`t think outside the box - i`m not creative.  i think in black or write.  as in, every.single.frame must be white.  lol.  i need to break out of that mold.  this is truly beautiful.  you must smile every time you come in.  & i love how you`ve used things that are so meaningful to you.  great job.

I used heirloom white spray paint (rustoleum from Home Depot) and a mixture of provincial and special walnut on the top. I will post more on the dresser... :)
