tablecloths into curtains * diy draperies

05 February 2013

I came across these tablecloths this summer on Target clearance. My store only had 1, so I came home and looked online, and there they were! Hooray! tablecloth from target
I’m trying to let me daughter guide this bedroom design and she loved them, they were canvas-y and pretty substantial so we were set! Or, so I thought. I completely forgot that the basement ceiling is high and that  84” curtains were not going to look great in there.

Sooo….we cut them in half and sewed (yes, SEWED, I sewed!) a strip of white fabric from another plain white window panel from my clearance stash to make them longer and hung the rods high above the windows.

She also has plain white roller shades in there, so we decided to dress them up a little with some craft tape from Michaels.craft tape

Yay for progress in her room~more to come! Down to the basement I go~

Great idea to jazz up the simple pull shades with decorative tape {note to self}.  :D  I did a similar fix this summer with our new pantry/utility area.  I found these great shower curtains at Target...loved the colors and patterns, however they were not long enough....SOOOO...I found a nice striped coordinating fabric at Wal*Mart and added the needed length to the bottom of the curtains.  I used long strips of the striped fabric with added tassel ribbon {?} found on clearance to jazz up the created tie-backs.  To hand, I chose to use black clip rings so I could adjust spacing accordingly.  Here's the link to see my fabric selection.  I still have NOT done my summer projects post!  {Maybe before this summer I'll get to it.  ;D}  http://smithseasonsoflife.blogspot.com/2012/09/pictorial-tour-summer-2012.html  Looking forward to seeing all your other projects and the progression of working with your daughter on her space.  :D

    Blessings,
