reveal: our home exterior paint colors

This post may contain my affiliate link. For more information, please see my disclosure policy: Thanks! :)

If you remember in this post last month, we used the Sherwin-Williams Color Visualizer to see what different colors would look like on the exterior of our house. It is a dream tool that helps you see what a color will look like on your project before you waste gallons on the wrong color.
Here is what it looked like before: photo housecolors_zpsb7feff9b.jpg
We took it from about 5 colors and narrowed it down to 2 favorites:
SW 7031 Mega Greige: photo megagreige_zpsc926f63f.jpg
and
SW 7642 Pavestone: photo pavestone_zpsc61aeedc.jpg

Then, we went and picked up a sample quart of each at Sherwin-Williams and tried them out at different spots on the house --- the SW 7642 Pavestone is on the left in this picture and SW 7031 Mega Greige is on the right. The Color Visualizer is awesome, but each computer screen is different and you’ll want to see the colors in person with your lighting, sunlight, trim, brick/rock, etc. to really get a better feel for it.

And the one we ended up going with is...SW 7642 Pavestone and SW 7008 Alabaster! photo sherwinwilliamspavestonepaintwithalabastertrim_zpsac7ee86b.jpg

Again, here is the Color Visualizer version:
 photo pavestone_zpsc61aeedc.jpg
Pretty darn close! I was so impressed and will be using the Color Visualizer for many more painting projects to come...like the front door?! I love being able to “try on” the paint before buying.
And, of course, I had to add a few touches to the outside to make it feel like home – the inside wasn’t even finished, but I put up a flag,
 photo flaginfront_zpsfc61ea63.jpg
some fun house numbers, photo housenumbers_zps59a7030d.jpg
and do you remember the post on outside lighting? We went with this lantern for the porch. photo lanternporch_zpsa7170417.jpg
It’s all finally coming together!
We stocked up during the 40% off Super Sale and are sold on this stuff. This is for Hailey’s room – she is going with the same color we used in our Viriginia home: SW 6421 Celery.
 photo landonpainting_zpsa2477cf6.jpg
Where are the other boys you ask?? Oh you know, just playing in the trash. photo boysintrashbin_zps61166e60.jpg
If they had it their way, the trash bin, the portable toilet, and the dirt hills would stay. The orange could provide a lovely contrast with the pavestone…
On to more painting projects!

As for what room I'd paint it would be my master bedroom.. right now it is blah beigy white and seems to always be the last room we touch! Thanks for sponsoring this!

  36. So happy the visualizer tool worked for you! I really like the colors you choose and was wondering what are the exterior materials on the house that you had to paint them? (I'm wondering if I missed a post?) Looking forward to seeing what else you do! Oh, I am in the 'we're on our third decade color transformation phase' so I will be changing pretty much the whole downstairs over the next couple of years!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love SW paint so would love to win! I think it's time to paint the last room in my house (lived here 8 years)- the laundry room. The bathroom could also use a new coat of paint.

  38. Great color on the exterior of your home! I'd love to transform the master bedroom in our home...it just needs a face lift!

    ReplyDelete
  39. When I saw the choices I like that one right away! My taste must be getting good...yours is amazing :)

I'd like to paint our bedroom. Previous owners had lots of bright colors and yet when with an almost white in our bedroom...I need some color in there! And the living room, but that is going to take pro painters. The ceiling is over 2 stories high so there is no way I'm getting the walls done all the way up by myself! But I can't wait to get all the nail holes patched and have a nice solid color wall someday!
