easy hook organization board

28 August 2014

I’m trying to slowly make it around to the kids’ rooms to see what can help them get their rooms in order. Hailey didn’t have anything to hang hoodies, bags, belts, etc. so we came up with a quick, easy solution for behind the door -- under $10!
easy diy board with hooks

Pick up a 1X6 common pine board - this one was 6 ft long and only $3.68. They will cut it to the size you need.

Look what else I found there (Home Depot) that had me very happy -- hooks are usually expensive!hooks home depot

Paint your board with leftover paint (this is some I had from the cart I painted on the porch)-- you could even use craft paint:paint the board

Find some studs in the walls that you will attach your board to:use a stud finder
Pre-drill some holes in your board so it won’t crack when you drill the screws.pre drill holes

Using a level, attach the board to the wall with wood screws.level and attach

Then, we used some washi tape to cover the screws and brighten it up a little, add your hooks using a drill or a screwdriver. washi tape

And there you go! Ready for action. Adding it to Under $10 Under 1 Hour projectsboard with hooks under $10
I stocked up on hooks because I know I will be using them in the closets, garage, pantry as we get this place organized!

  2. Yup. I have always been that person who has to explain " this is my thing"! Whether it is cooking, decorating, organizing or entertaining. It took me a loooonnnggg time to figure out it wasn't my problem, it was the other persons insecurities. I try not to take it personally ( sometimes I fail at this ). But I always stay true to myself

  3. I like the ability to save more money when you 'stack' deals such as sale items, coupons, and now this Amex addition. It's great for the savvy shopper!

  4. That looks great! Just a word of warning on those hooks. I bought a bunch of those exact ones for my mudroom and a year later they are starting to break. I think the metal is just too thin. They also put holes through a couple of jackets (they are also kind of pointy). I would go for the other heftier $.88 cent hooks with the bulb on the ends. Hope this helps!

We love Amex offers! And they support you when you have an issue with a product you purchase with their card! We have been long, long time customers.
