Well, of course it snowed.
Because Christmas is over, and it would make too much sense to snow before Christmas??
I’m a little bitter today…because it’s BITTER cold outside, I’m still trying to get Christmas down, my new years resolutions aren’t going so hot, and we started on the upstairs’ bathrooms over the break and they are just sitting waiting for me to finish peeling the wallpaper borders.
Blasted projects~who thought they were a good idea anyway?
They may not have the most comments or hits, but here the ones that are near and dear to my heart:
1. Spring On My Door : my oldest daughter was home sick that day and we had the crazy notion to write this post in cave man talk. We were laughing so hard and google searching for a cave woman to sign the post with. Most of you probably thoughy I was off my rocker as you read, except for Amy at a Nest For All Seasons who simply wrote: “like much.” She has a special place in my heart!
I was clearing some pictures off my computer and found these random pics from the past year. I was going to erase them, but I figured you probably need to see what life is normally like amidst diy projects. Enjoy….or cringe??

Well, hello there! We are on our great road trip traveling across the U.S. to visit/meet up with family in Montana, Canada, and then down to Missouri and Illinois. That means LOTS of quality time in the car, like we’re talking 5,000 miles worth. Let me show you what has been our little saving grace:
Someone asked me if I keep the boys out of the living room.
Well….
I have to admit, this nearly perfect summer day almost didn’t happen. We’re getting ready to go on our big trip, my to-do list is a couple pages long, and I was thinking of other things we could do that wouldn’t take as much time and picking up some berries at the Farmer’s Market, but look what we would have missed:
the blueberries were huge and scrumptious this year!
It’s tradition! I included our cards for this year and a link to download at the end:)
I made up a list of all the chores my kids help me do. Walk through your house and see what you would like done. Maybe you want dusting to happen at least once a week. Maybe your glass screen doors are covered in fingerprints like mine. Maybe everyone's shoe baskets are spilling into each others and you need to organize them and distribute them to the rooms. Or better yet, why couldn't your kids organize them? 
This was our table this morning. Let’s analyze, shall we? 1. Fathers Day cards that need to be sent out

2. jars & bug spray from catching fireflies last night (they have just begun to come out around here!)
3. table needs to be refinished~it’s on the list.
Do you make cute cupcakes? You probably do.
I never have…mine usually consist of a cake mix, store bought frosting and some sprinkles~like this.
First of all, I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day! Did you have a chance to read all of the fabulous guest posts on being a mom last week? They are so inspiring~thank you again to everyone that shared their insights on being a mom.
I’ve decided to try to make it a tradition to take a picture with my kids on Mother’s Day. I was hoping for church clothes, but they all change into their pajamas as soon as we get home, so this is what we got.

* getting up an hour and 15 minutes before the kids is absolutely priceless. It means exercise, a shower, quiet study/planning time, the dishwasher unloaded, a load of laundry started, and 15 minutes worth of email response, where it will take you 3 hours to get these things finished when the kids are up. I know you want to push snooze, but don’t do it….
*fold the clothes right out of the dryer. Don’t you dare pile it up on the floor or the baskets. Seriously? It will take 15 minutes tops. C’mon.
AKA My love/hate relationship with surprises.
Soooo, my sweet husband surprised me with an awesome gift for Christmas. I couldn’t believe it when the delivery guys showed up…I hadn’t asked for them, I really had no clue, and I am not an easy person to surprise because I make it my business know everything that’s going on around here. 
The guys were wondering where to put the old washer and dryer and my husband told them they could take them downstairs to the storage room. (When we had the basement finished, we had them put a washer and dryer hookup in our storage room so someday we could have a laundry upstairs and downstairs.)
I gauge my time in existence by the top of milk cartons, so I had a little panic moment when I was in Kroger last night at 10:47 and saw this:

a tip for your Christmas books: when you get new books, write the year on the inside cover, and have your kids write their names and ages. It will give your heart a little stab when you open them up year after year and see how they’re growing, but you will cherish it and they love to see how they “used to” write.
In other news…we got snow and it feels much more like Christmas~ Wahoo!
