a little sprucing up…

22 December 2010

I told you all when I showed my silvery Christmas vignette that I wasn’t finished tweaking.
I saw this idea in a Pottery Barn book: putting pictures in apothecary jars with some snow and silver ornaments.december 2010 039 1 december 2010 028 1

Cutting up an old santa hat? What a grinchy thing to do…

While the scissors are out…
december 2010 048 1  Let’s just dress the candles up a little:december 2010 025 1
Before you email me telling that fur is going to make my house burn down, they are battery operated candles! :) I hope all of your holiday prep is going well…I’ve got a sweet girl having a 9th birthday tomorrow, and a whole lot of wrapping to do. Happy Wednesday~

  7. That all looks so nice. The variety of color and textures in the jars and on the candles especially looks very pretty. I think I may try that with some candles at my house, thanks for the inspiration!

  10. How does your daughter like having a b-day so close to Christmas? My grandma's birthday was Dec. 23, and of course everyone brought her a present, but it always seemed overshadowed by our Christmas Eve celebration at her house. Not that she ever complained!

  12. Very nice! Hope your daughter has a great day. My daughter turns 8 tomorrow and she thinks it is the worlds BEST day to have a birthday! Everyone is in party mode! Hooray for December Birthdays! :) Also, she is going to be getting baptized as a member of our church on Christmas Eve, how special is that? :)

  13. I love your apothecary jars. I am a sucker for them as well - you can use them for all holidays.
I try to find mine at thrift stores to save money, but do break down and buy them at the store as well.
Lovely blog - this is my first visit!

  14. You are so extraordinarily clever! Your furry candles are just darling, and the apothecary jars look great with the B&W photos!

So today is your daughter's birthday? I'm thinking she's your oldest; is that right? I can just imagine you nine years ago--now that was some way to get into the Christmas spirit! Hope her day has been wonderful.

Love you, sweet friend. I hope you have the merriest Christmas ever!

  15. I love the fur wrapped candle! Makes me think I'll be on the hunt for some Santa hats on clearance after the 25th. I saw it peaking out in the edge of the photo before you started talking about it and was already intrigued and so then was excited when you did your "how to". Thanks! Kelly
