Hello! I realized we haven't shared a spring/Easter porch lately so let's take care of that today! Here is the video on Instagram if you would like to see how speedy I am! Haha I love time lapse. Truth is that it does take a long time to bring out what you have, search for what you want to bring in, etc. And then the time it takes to return the items that didn't work out. Here are the winners that made the front porch cut though:
* the artificial tulips these days are incredible! Here are the white ones I ordered (just fyi -this was a few years ago and they do tend to yellow but I actually like the cream with the white pitcher) and the prettiest shade of pink tulips |
* all of these are oldies but goodies. You don't need to buy everything new every year. I love pulling out the decor that has been with me since the beginning. |
* you cand find these adorable bunnies in the dollar spot at Target and they are only $1!! Truly remarkable when even the Dollar Store has raised prices to $1.25 If you can't find them at your store these were the closest thing I could find online. |
* "vintage" 😉 (like 4 years ago) Studio McGee spring arrangements |
* these wooden eggs were also in the dollar spot - $3 for 6 I believe. |
* this Studio McGee pink pillow is also so good - another addition for this year. |
* this is an older Hearth & Hand wreath that I just tucked some pink seed stems into. Here is a similar one! |
* this green/white plaid rug will be perfect for spring/summer. Another Studio McGee find ♥ |
* simple pink pillow covers with an older bunny pillow |
* the palm arrangements are on sale and are perfect for Easter! The bunny cupcake/candle stands are from Pottery Barn years ago but I have seen some knock-offs lately. I usually purchase prints from Etsy, print them out on to transparencies and then use my trusty overhead projector and chalkboard. Here is the tomb print and then the He is Risen lettered print. The weather was beautiful and it felt like spring today but then the forecast calls for 5-8 inches of SNOW this weekend??! It must be spring. Thanks for stopping by. ♥ |
Hello and happy mid-week! I just wanted to share some good things with you this Wednesday.

Loving: Target's Ever Spring line has the cutest packaging you have ever seen if you need some spring color in your kitchen for just a few dollars. The hand soap is perfect next to it as well.
Shopping: Target is having a "secret" home sale -- here are some items up to 50% off from top to bottom.
Smelling: My laundry room drain was smelling so yucky but just pouring a bucket of water down the drain as advised here did the trick! Thank you plumber tips!
Listening: my sister-in-law, Courtney has a fabulous podcast and I am making anyone who walks/runs/exercises alone listen to this one with Robyn Warner and her attempted murder on a trail in southern Utah.
Reading: if you need a great book to take on your next vacation or get you through until you go on vacation these are fun, clean romances (if you like Edenbrook type books I think you'll love these) written by my friend Kortney Keisel. I love the relationships, characters, and developments in both and brought them to Oahu thinking I would pull them out for a beach read and honestly couldn't put them down and may or may not have been up on my Kindle at 2 a.m. finishing them in our hotel bathroom. I started with the Promised Prince and then went to the Rejected King. Brava, Kortney!!!
Planning: Easter dinner! Here are our favorite Easter recipes but we may also add some new ones like this glazed pork and these rosemary sweet potato rolls ♥
Fixing: I thought my old Roomba, Jessie had given up the ghost but I ordered this new battery and she is like new again! Hooray!
Smelling: I am loving the summer fruit medley and the over the rainbow scents from Better Homes and Gardens at Walmart. If you are home for a day this homemade Williams Sonoma stovetop potpourri is fabulous for spring as well.

Here is the whole sale without any of my filters.
Thanks for letting me share! Thankful we are heading into some beautiful spring weather this weekend.
Spring of 2020 will for sure be one for our family history books! Here's what we have been up to:
I shared on Instagram but I cannot get over these amaryllis bulbs!! They just keep getting more beautiful. (from Brambles and Blossoms in Provo)
A neighbor fills her garden area with daffodils and it is the most lovely sight.
Hazel is the most sassy cat on the planet. She struts right in front of us when we're about to take our family Easter pic.
Speaking of Easter -- I love that traditional meal!
We had spring break last week so we had to make it special.
Campout in the backyard
blanket forts,
Some beautiful hikes -- Rock Canyon was so pretty but also so crowded, I would avoid that one.
but we were nearly by ourselves on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. I had never been on it!
Beautiful bike rides.
and more rocks in the landscape.
Birthday in quarantine!
They are the best.
Crumbl cookies (that almond frosting is what gets me -- we decided they are our favorite sugar cookie)
and lots of regular old housework and schoolwork.
braving a quick errand
It's so odd to see these parking lots completely empty!
Have you been watching the Chosen? We have been loving it. Such a different perspective of the personalities and lives of the people around Jesus. We have just been streaming it to our TV on Youtube.
Easter Dinner Menu * Easter Dinner Side Dishes * Cheesy Funeral Potatoes * Easter Egg Hunt Ideas
17 April 2019
Hello! Since Easter is THIS weekend, I thought I'd share our traditional Easter menu, along with the recipes.
Dinner -- we usually do buffet style since we have lots of family around:
* Spiral Sliced Ham with Orange and Brown Sugar Glaze
* Cheesy Funeral Potatoes (see my recipe below) We've tried lots of versions and still think this is the best. Super easy with frozen hashbrowns.
* Roasted Asparagus using this method
* Best Salad Ever
* Raspberry Pretzel Jello Salad -- her recipe is the all-time favorite.
* One hour dinner rolls -- this recipe is the BEST. My son has made it for our last few family dinners and we can't believe they are one hour. They are divine!
Dessert:
* The best Carrot Cake sheet pan style
* Easy Key Lime Pie -- I tore this out of Real Simple years ago, it's really good and easy
My sister-in-law, Kristine introduced us to a pain free Easter Egg Hunt:

Have each family bring their favorite Easter candy or little non-candy prizes and determine how many eggs each will be worth. My SIL Kristine is usually in charge of this and just has it in her mind. Hide a bunch of empty plastic eggs around the yard. Determine how many each child gets to find, golden eggs can be worth extra. After finding them, bring them back to the "store" and they can turn their eggs in for their favorites. We go from youngest to oldest and you learn pretty quickly what to get for the next year. Everyone goes away happy!
And, as promised here is our favorite funeral potato recipe. They are called funeral potatoes around here because our church usually does a dinner for the family after a funeral and this is a popular request -- warm, cheesy, pure comfort food.

Happy Easter to each of you!

Bringing spring around the house doesn't have to break the bank or be complicated. Here are some ideas to get you going:
* Egg wreaths are classic! This is a quail wreath from a shop I ordered years ago, I haven't seen one again like it but you can buy quail eggs on Etsy and egg wreaths are everywhere.
* Bunny Plates! I shared my obsession with bunny plates last year. I've seen some on Amazon that are more like the price I paid for the Pottery Barn ones, but keep your eyes open at Burlington Coat Factory, TJ Maxx, etc. for the $5.99 ones! They are so great to stick some greenery on
or use one to hold a nest to bring some instant spring cheer inside:
* Make a chalkboard sign or hang a light wood banner. This one was from the Target dollar spot a few seasons ago. A light burlap banner is also spring-y to me
*Put your letterboard to good use:
* Pink cake plates are always a good idea! Hearth & Hand is killing it this season with their pink milkglass collection ♥
* Bunny pillows and greens (and another egg wreath) They had these adorable bunny pillows at Kirkland's this year. I also love putting some greenery in a white basket.
If you need solid color pillows, H&M Home is my favorite for $5.99 pillow covers! (I only have one bunny pillow but I thought the pink one looked lonely so I moved it over for the picture)
* The greens I can't stop talking about (Israeli ruscus -- look for it in your grocery store in a green bunch) are still going strong (3 weeks!) I think fresh greens instantly bring fresh in.
*in the kitchen: cutting boards, white pitchers, and green stems (these are still my favorite!)
Are you ready for spring??
