I bought this sweet little bundle of sticks at Rod Works in Utah for $2.50:
As I was playing around with where to put them, my husband saw it and said, "more sticks?"
I said, "what do you mean, more sticks?"
He raised his eyebrows.
Then, I looked around and had to laugh:
sticks in nests
sticks in the bathroom
Haha! He sounds like MY husband. But I love your sticks! Those are all darling... Unfortunately no sticks for me yet. But this inspiration might get it going. Love this blog! =)
ReplyDeleteHusbands sometimes fail to see the vision we have. Sticks are...wonderful. Can't have too many!!!
ReplyDeleteI love sticks too! Tried to make some Christmas stars out of them last year but the glue I used didn't work well. Also found some cut bamboo by the side of the road that I thought I could use for drapery rods. Alas, they were too big...
ReplyDeleteLove sticks and stones!
Yep. I love sticks. They are so natural and organic, plus you can use the real thing and never have to water them or anything.
ReplyDeleteGood post! My husband would roll his eyes and want to know why I didn't go in the backyard for some sticks. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes - I've got sticks. Easy and cheap! One year I used them for Christmas decorations and spray painted them gold!
ReplyDeleteI love your sticks - I have a 6ft stick in my home that I love.
ReplyDeleteYep! Me too, on a stick kick. ha! You have great taste, so keep your sticks going on. I've got a post ready to go on even more sticks at my house too. Found...at a yardsale!
ReplyDeleteAs I was reading your post I remembered how much I used to LOVE sticks. When I was little I would collect sticks, use a vegetable peeler to get all of the bark off, then leave some plain and paint some. I used to love, love, love my naked painted sticks. Thank you for helping me to remember my love of sticks!! I love your sticks, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI guess sticks made great, cheap accessories... I never thought about it before! Great post!
ReplyDeleteLOL... You are so funny. My hubby always says... "Another Star"???? LOL. I love the look of a vintage star. It just adds something. Sticks are my weakness too. Because you can do so much with them.
ReplyDeleteI bought a stick type wreath at Rod Works about 6 months ago, and hung it on my pantry door, and my hubby said... "Uh... why do we have a wreath in our kitchen??? Aren't those for FRONT doors?" LOL. They just don't get it... right? :)

The sticks together with the starfish and shell..., nice touch. It could even be driftwood too.
ReplyDeleteGotta love sticks! They can be used for so many great things- who knew we would spend so much money on something that's free!?
ReplyDeleteI use sticks alot in decorating my home as well as my giftshop. I hang them from the ceiling and suspend ornaments and wrap floral around the twigs so they look more realistic.
ReplyDeleteMy blog shows a few shots of my booth at Calico Hen House.
I love the sticks you show coming out of the white box. They are all twisted and look very real.
I've got 'em, but they're all in a pile in the backyard. I've really been racking my brain for something cool to do with them indoors, but so far I haven't come up with anything exciting enough to actually lead me to bring any in.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Gotta love sticks! I have them several places too.
ReplyDeleteHahah, I DO have sticks but can't figure out what to do with them. Somedays I wish I hadn't bought them...then I think...they were $1 at the Dollar Store. My hubby thinks I'm crazy because we have been cutting down dead branches and getting rid of all sorts of piles of sticks at our house. And I BOUGHT some. :)
ReplyDeleteDon't you just hate it when the hubster does not get the big picture? lol.
ReplyDeleteYep, gotta love sticks. My daughter recently went to a friends house and came home with a little bunch of bamboo poles for me.
ReplyDeleteLove your pictures.
Hey...when we are drawn to something, we are drawn to something and can NEVER get enough!
ReplyDeleteHugs from Houston!
I may or may not have a stick thing going on over here too (including those that you just bought).
ReplyDeleteSticks are good! Men don't know nuttin! Rofl, cherry
ReplyDeleteI saved the sticks we used to roast marshmellows when we were on vacation to use in scrapbooking. Everyone thought I was crazy!
ReplyDeleteOh my Melissa, I think you're a little "stuck up!" (sorry, that sounded way funnier in my head)
ReplyDeleteI think I NEED more sticks!
Sticks are great. I made a chandelier last fall out of manzanita sticks. Sticks work for everything! Hooray for sticks. (And spray paint. And glue guns. And ModPodge...)
ReplyDeleteI love sticks!
ReplyDeleteI pick them off the ground after a storm and put them in pots, and wreaths and on shelves with displays!
So natural and so free!
I really like how you used the sticks with the sand and starfish!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that I found your blog the other day! You have some really cute ideas that you've transformed into great decorating accents! You should've posted your apothecary jar with the stick balls and the eggs for the cloche part! I love ALL of your stick stuff. Thanks for joining as a follower, Melissa. :-) Sue
ReplyDeleteCheaper than pearls : ) I love all the texture of your displays!
ReplyDeleteUmm yep you have the sticks but I love all your sticks...they are cuter than the ones I have which are on the ground after a storm last night. hehehe...
ReplyDeleteooooooh love the sticks!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband told me he had a dream he was being attacked my shoes. While I was biting my tongue to keep from telling him how weird he was I noticed my shoes. Several pairs under my dresser, a few pair at the foot of the bed, more by the vanity and three pairs in the bathroom. Whoops!
ReplyDeleteLove them all! I have the same ones in the last picture, I got two of them on clearance but can't remember where! I love stick balls, lol, have them everywhere! Love your stick topiary too! Awesome!
