Well, hello friends!
I'm back!
Kind of.
I'm here, but I feel like my brain and body haven't quite caught up from a week at a family reunion and then the 4th festivities. I did manage to find some treasures though~I have to show you this:
We had a family reunion with my husband's side of the family in Allen, Texas. (Any of you from around there? It was beautiful!) Anyway, they rented out a big house with a pool for us all to get together and as we were driving in, look what I saw:

Aaaahhhhhh! Stop the car! Stop the car!
I did go over in the morning with some of my sil's and was dying that we didn't have any room in our van to bring anything big back. The house in the second picture had TONS of home decor stuff. We were just packed and I knew I wouldn't be able to fit anything big, and I was salivating over a bench and table for $15 each, but sadly enough, I left them for someone else to find.
I did pick up a few smaller things though:
A Bumbo!! It was crazy; my sil, Maryn had brought hers for her baby and we were seeing how great it was and how we needed to get one, etc, etc and lo and behold, what was at the top house for $3?? A Bumbo! A few crayon marks, but still in great shape. I seriously have never seen one of these at a yard sale, so I was thrilled.
I got this great wooden box for a dollar, and a bunch of cork tiles for $1 for the whole bunch. I'm not crazy about the hearts, but..
It's funny, when I recently went on a trip with four other people in our van, I let everyone know in advance that if I spotted something big that I wanted to bring home, one of them was getting left behind! I told them that they would need to decide amongst themselves who would get left, because I wouldn't want to make the decision! That box is cute, and no one will be the wiser if you turn those hearts towards the wall!
ReplyDelete$3 bucks for a bumbo!! what a score. Looks like you had a lot of fun :)
ReplyDeleteLove your finds! And what a Steal on the bumbo, those things are high! I like the wooden box turned so you can't see the hearts, I think it will look great!
ReplyDeleteLove bumbo seats. It was my favorite baby accessory!! I know how you feel about letting something go. You feel like you'll DIE (not really) if you pass up a deal! Hope you enjoyed your vacation!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I found a pink Bumbo at a local thrift shop once for $4 and bought it for my little one. So you beat me by $1! :)
ReplyDeleteWow I wouldn't have been able to pass up those houses either...what a lucky gal
ReplyDeleteAwesome finds! I did the same thing on vacation...found WAY too many things I absolutely could not bring back with me. It's sad. Sometimes I still think about that amazing chair for $15 that I had to pass up. Boo-hoo. Glad you're back safe and sound. We missed you.

ReplyDeletea bumbo is a great find!!!
ReplyDeleteYup, that woulda killed me too, not being able to fit stuff in the car. I love what you got anyway though! Great stuff. ~Kim
ReplyDeleteThe Bumbo is the best deal ever! Goodness that is the cheapest I've ever heard of one selling! I love the little box too!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! Great deals!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is from Allen!! I love it there! Can you believe the size of all the houses there??? Such a fun place with great outdoor concerts too!! I am sure you will do something creative with the cool box you found!
ReplyDeleteMy brother lives in Allen!! What a small world it is! Great job on the bargains!
ReplyDeleteGosh I would love to find one of those for even close to that price! (the Bumbo). I really dont want to spend $40 for one!
ReplyDeleteHey, Melissa! Oh my I would have stopped the car at those sales too. You still managed to get a few nice things to bring home. Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds girl! I'm glad you had a good trip. Couldn't you have left one of the kids there to make room for the big stuff? :)
ReplyDeleteMy parents are in Allen. Crazy! Is Hyrum's family from there? Yeah, I keep thinking I'd love to actually hit up the Goodwill there - they have AMAZING things. Like $3 Bumbos. Pure insanity. :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun to come across sales like that! No way you could pass that up! I'm showing some of my garage sale finds this Wednesday on my blog... I love a good garage sale find!
ReplyDeleteGreat deal on that corkboard - so many fun things to do with that ! I would cover up the hearts on that box with a wood medallion (sp?) come visit my blog - cuz I like to use them on alot of my stuff !

I know where Allen is! I got married in McKinney which is the neighboring town! So fun! Kelly
ReplyDeleteA Bumbo for $3.00. That is a seriously good score. Wow!
ReplyDeleteLove the box and tiles too. Glad to see you back!
I'm impressed that you went to a sale on vacation...or maybe it's jealousy I'm feeling...I saw so many great thrift/antique stores on our vacation and my husband looked at me like I was crazy for suggesting we stop. Sigh, what's a thrifty girl to do?
ReplyDeleteOkay...I am thinking along the same lines as Kammy above....go get some wood star cutouts...paint them match and stick 'em on the inside and outside of the box. Cute cute cute!!! I am sure you will make it FAB whatever you do! You do know how to score at yardsales!!!
ReplyDeleteI am way jealous of you trip...sounds hecka fun!!!
BTW....missed you blogging!!!!
Glad you had a good vacation! You got some steals at the yardsale too. I know it was hard to leave the rest of them there, but that bumbo seat is worth its weight in gold. We used ours all the time.
ReplyDeletelove the shabbiness of those wood boxes!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great wood box! Can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteSincerely ~ Tricia Anne
I'm sure you'll find a great creative way to hide those hearts! Great finds!
ReplyDeleteGreat score with the Bumbo!! I use ours every day (with the tray - that's the best part!) and they're around $30!! But I did buy mine with a baby shower gift card. :)
