christmas goodness

14 December 2009

Most of you know we're moving (ummm...in 3 days) but last weekend I had a shower at my house, so of course I had to pull out a few festive decorations. It seems odd without the tree, the village, and the nativity set, but we'll enjoy them at Grandma's this year.
Christmas Tour of Homes with The Nester
I'm joining Nester's Tour of Homes and Rhoda's Home for the Holidays and I'm probably #6, 435 at this point, but this is my last party with them in this house {sniff} and it makes me a little sad. We've started the "lasts" of everything before we leave beloved Texas, and I'm on an emotional roller coaster...I was going to tell you which yard sale I got what at, and how I painted this, and used this from this, but my to-do list is right next to me and well.... I'm just going to let you enjoy. :) You can see more Christmas at my home here.

Merry Christmas!

  4. In 3 days!! Oh, my goodness--you must be up to your neck in things to do. Yet you posted these wonderful pictures. Bless you.

I went back and looked at your Christmas posts from last year. I wasn't blogging at this time last year, so it's all new to me. What fun!

Your house looks so happy decorated for Christmas. And now you'll have a house in the East to decorate and love. Here's hoping you like your new home even more than you've liked your Texas home. Seems hard to imagine right now, but it is what I wish for you.

Will pray for you this week! Take care of yourself.

    Love,
    Richella

  15. I completely understand how you feel. We just moved from Florida to a suburb of Cincinnati Ohio. I didn't even put up Christmas decorations. The move was too overwhelming to worry about Christmas. My sister in law lives in Ft. Worth. Where in Texas are you? Where on the East coast are you going? I will be thinking about you this week. I just went through all those feelings that you are having. Leaving a house you love is hard. I know. Take care and happy holidays.

  16. Im moving in 3 days too and staying with my bfs folks. You had more decorations than I did. I put a fresh wreath on the door that will be here for the new people. I pulled out my little feather tree thats already decorated and a melted snowman I put near it. Then I lit the pine scented candle.

Last nite I took my children and grandchildren to dinner. It was our Christmas dinner since I wont be here then. Im moving out of state. These last days here have been bittersweet and there isnt a day lately that I dont cry. Moving is hard. This move has been hard to get started and once it was it flew by really fast. Found a buyer before it was even listed.

Perhaps thats a good thing since Im starting over now...new life in a new state with my bf. I have to say good bye to this house next. I think Ill most likely cry all the way to Oregon. I hope you have a Merry Christmas even with all this going on tho.

  18. I almost wish we had sold our home before the holidays {like you, Melissa}, but we didn't, so we took it off the market until February. I wanted to be able to decorate to my heart's content, especially if it was the last Christmas here.

God bless you as you move; I know it can be hard to leave, but how exciting to have Christmas in a new house! I'm sure you'll have it looking beautiful too, even if none of the other boxes are unpacked yet.

  21. I am so impressed that you decorated and had a shower when you are moving. Are you moving east? I hope you get settled in OK and the move goes without a hitch. Just did the same thing on Thanksgiving.

  22. I'll ditto Holly, Melissa. ;) You make my house look like a cardboard box. ;) I know it must be so emotional to leave a home with so many memories and so much hard work put into it, but just think about the excitement to come. :) We're all along for the ride with you, friend! :) Your photos are just lovely!

And if you were #6, 435 then I was #6,436...I just got online too late last night. No matter...it's fun to see what other people are doing. :) Merry Christmas!

  36. Moving always seems to have mixed feelings with it--the excitement of moving into a new place but also some sentimental feelings about leaving the old behind. Your decorations look great!

  40. I just want to say WOW! I'm moving in 5 days, 3 days before Christmas and we are walking around in boxes and our house is bare and will probably ruin our children for life but we are trusting that God is in control and has a plan. Anyway, your house is darling and you have a lot of great ideas.God Bless you as you move.
