I wasn’t planning on yard-sale-ing this weekend, but there was a big church yard sale not too far from our house, so my daughters and I went. I could tell it was going to be good because there was a long line waiting for it to open at 8. This is one I will mark on my calendar~everything was completely organized, great junk, low prices.
A big old jar with lid ($3)
Shutters! Not sure what I’m going to do with them yet, but it makes me feel better having them handy if inspiration hits…($2 for all)
2 scrabble games…we can always use the extra tiles for crafts like these ($1.50 for both)
lampshades! love the pleated one on the left, I need to find me a sassy brassy chandelier for my daughter’s room for the small shades, and I may cover the one on the right?? It is a sweet bird print though…($1, $2 for all the chandelier shades, .50)
Cutest cash register ever! We have one we love from our Aunt Maryn, but it always seems to be a fight over who gets to play with it, or there are more than one “stores” set up in the playroom at any given time, so it will be good to have another one in the house… (.50)
A cute dress set for my daughter ($1)
This yard sale saved me about $50 in new shoes for my kids (and a trip to the store)… girls shoes ($1)
What do you think? Do you see any potential with any of this? Any advice on what I should do with a certain item?
I’m sharing my treasures over at Rhoda’s:
i keep looking for shutters to make a headboard for our bed! we don't have anything but a mattress and box springs on a frame right now... ghetto! :) so that's what i'd do with those babies if i'd found 'em! :)
ReplyDeleteGoodness Melissa, you hit a great sale! Those shoes look brand new. And I like your thinking about the shutters. I'm sure there will be a plan for those soon. They look pretty tall. I love those shades!
ReplyDeleteWow! What great deals! The shoes look brand new. Awesome! And I think I'd leave the bird lampshade as is. It's really cute.
ReplyDeleteAwesome deals! I love the lamp shades!
ReplyDeleteWow, 50 cents for Stride Rite and Sketchers is pretty amazing!
ReplyDeleteShut the front door!! I love your finds! And yes, I have a suggestion for those shutters - send them to me! Seriously $2 bucks. That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love the bird shade too. In my junking travels, I found a lamp that is like that, only it has robins on it. Same colors, same style. In fact, it is in my computer room, here with me, waiting to be rewired.
ReplyDeleteThat was a good sale.
Holy moley, Melissa! I think it would be worth it for me to head over the mountains and go salin' with you. The Stride Rites look to be in perfect condition! You have some great buys...I like all those neat lampshades. :)
ReplyDeleteI love headboards made from shutters.

And that pleated lampshade is gorgeous!
Great finds, Melissa! I love that drum shade, well really all of them. You did great at that sale!
ReplyDeleteOh, the shutters, how could I forget the shutters. What a deal those are!!
You did really good, Melissa! Those shoes look brand new. I love that bird lampshade. Although it looks old, birds are so in again right now, that it works as is! Unless you can dress up the panels that don't have a bird on them with fabric or paper. Love the shutters and great find on the Scrabble games. My Goodwill never has games, but I'm always on the lookout.
ReplyDeleteWow what great finds. I never find treasures like that at our neighborhood sales. People must have better taste where you live.
ReplyDeleteP.S. We're giving away free design consultations if you're interested.
Girl you scored big! I love your finds at such cheap prices - you gotta love church sales... :)
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome at this! I LOVE that cute cash register...my little ones would love it too!
ReplyDeleteThe cash register has a scan gun! Love that!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome finds, I'd pick all those myself. Thankfuly we don't thrift together :-)
wow....what a SCORE! The kids shoes were a great find and I'm always a sucker for shutters. There are so many things you can do with those. :)
ReplyDeletemajor scores!!!! I love everything you bought!!! Some serious deals!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, great finds! I actually just read a blog earlier today that had some good ideas for shutters. Here's the link if you're interested.

Great score! Love the jar, the toys and the extra scrabble games.
ReplyDeleteThere was a project in Better Homes and Garden a couple years ago where they turned the shutters into a table for a porch or sunroom.
ReplyDeleteWow! I can't believe you found shutters for 50 cents each! I have been keeping my eye out for some. I want to put them on my shed to fill the bald spot! I'm jealous!
ReplyDeletegreat finds! I'm especially jealous of the shutters. I've been kind of wanting some to revamp and hang on the wall :)
ReplyDeleteyou can never go wrong with a bunch of shutters! -denise
ReplyDeleteFirst of all.. you did GOOD @ this garage sale!!! I LOVE shutters.. so many possibilities. Go over to my blog- i JUST did a project with shutters for a large wall and i love it...super easy and cute!

Those prices are insane!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You found some great things! Like everyone else - I love the shutters and what a deal on the shoes, pots and lamp shades!
ReplyDeleteBut the Scrabble games are my favorite. Thanks for the link back to Valentines gift idea using them. I love it!!
WOW!! I NEVER find great deals like that at sales... a suggestion for the cute dress: have your daughter wear it (unless it fits you-- LOL!) same with shoes, but I'm sure you weren't looking for something to do with those items were you? No. The shutters may look good as wall art in your newly finished basement. The Scrabble tiles would look great in the glass storage jar on your "custom" built-ins until you use them on more nifty crafts... Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteThose are some awesome finds! I soooo am in need of those shutters! I have two places for them if you can't find a use for them!;)
ReplyDeleteSo. Jealous!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 of those jars - two are "squatter" than the other. I've poured bags of flour and sugar in the two squatter ones. In those jars, I leave inside a small measuring cup - makes baking a breeze and pretty ups the counters and/or pantry area. In the taller jar I store my [mixed] collection of antique and modern cookie cutters. That is on display in my kitchen. I purchased that jar initially to store all of my knitting needles (I wanted something attractive - but somehow the notion of pulling the cookie cutters out from the shadows of storage came to mind once I arrived home with my purchase).
ReplyDeleteThe shutters look so smart....I have been waiting for it to make a headboard.
