Well, you may not think they are awesome, but I sure did. Just a few random things that I didn’t know (you probably already know) but just in case, I’ve gotta share:
1. I discovered last winter that most of our Wii games were horribly scratched and wouldn’t play. We laid down the law and told the kids that if they wanted to play, they would have to pay for new games with their own money. (do your kids put the discs back when they are finished?!? arghhhh…such a pet peeve of mine) My daughter asked if anybody fixed wii games..and I didn’t know. We googled around a bit and found Azura Disc and figured it was worth a try? So, we sent in 7 discs, they were able to make 6 as good as new for around $27 total shipped. It was like Christmas when they got the games back. I have no affiliation whatsoever with them…but they are my kids’ new best friends!
2. Did you know you are supposed to format your memory card (if you get a new one) for your dslr camera? My pictures were taking FOREVER to upload to the computer, to play back, etc. I figured it was because it was a large memory card, but then I came across a tutorial one day that someone was asking the same question and they said you had to format your new card on your camera…who knew?? Probably me if I read the instructions, but it has made uploading pictures to my computer 10 times faster.
For Canon: make sure all of your pictures are off the card, then Menu---->Format---->Set-----> Yes you want to.
3. Did you know you are supposed to put bobby pins in with the zigzag side against your head? They hold so much better…who knew? (from a magazine at the dentist’s office….)
4. Did you know that in Blogger, you can put your own favicon (the little square picture box that shows up by a website) with your blog now? Got to dashboard---->Design-----> and then at the top you will see this: and you can upload the picture you want for your favicon. Very neat. :) Do you see the little 320 up there now for my blog?
I hope these helped~don’t you love tips?
I’ll be back here tomorrow with a fun giveaway~
This is why I love you! I'm seriously sending my wii games in tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteFun tips! Thanks! I'm off to change my favicon now :)
ReplyDeleteAs the mom of four girls, it was an eye opener to me when I learned that bobby pins from a beauty supply store are way better than the grocery store variety (and they don't cost much more either).
ReplyDeleteGreat tips - enjoyed the post.
ReplyDeleteWe tried the game stores and they could not fix our games. We then sent them off like you did and had the same great success. I was amazed. Great company and well worth it. It's better to save up several games before you send though (because of the shipping) . :) Great tips! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou probably meant to say this, but you should format your memory card each time you transfer your pictures to the computer. You will lose the pictures on the memory card but you also lose the corruption on the disks. The scary part is that memory cards can get to the point where they have so much corruption they cannot be read so you lose you card and your pictures.
ReplyDeleteAwesome tips!! Thanks for sharing, especially the favicon...I had no idea what that was :)

Great tips! I didn't have a clue about some of them.
ReplyDeleteOur local Family Video will fix disks for $.99. We've used the service many times!
ReplyDeleteIn our area ( Southern Oregon) the local used game stores will also refurnish the games/dvds for only a couple of dollars each. Might be worth checking to see if you have any used game stores in your area and if they have the same capability!
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't know that....I thought it was a one time thing. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips. Love them all! :)
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing bobby pins for 50 years and I never knew that!!
ReplyDeleteI can't get the bobby pin in that way! ;p
ReplyDeleteWho knew about bobby pins? I'm 64 years old and no one ever told me. My mother and grandmother never knew. Now my granddaughter (age 4) will know. Anything to help bobby pins stay in fine hair. Do you think this is a new discovery? - someone gave it a try and found - WOW, this works so much better. It takes a special brain to think "out of the box." Thanks for the info. Now I need to buy some bobby pins and see for myself.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I have visited your blog. Arrived via Little Lucy Lu. I've added you to my google reader. Thanks for the tips.
Lady, you sure know how to keep us in suspense! I'm DYING to see your kitchen! :) And I had no idea about the zigzag on the bobby pin. I thought that was to hold two of them together better. You have forever changed my life with that tip! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGrr, I spent WEEKS learning how to do that favicon thing over 2 years ago and NOW they want to make it so easy! LOL I'm on Wordpress now, so everything is harder there anyway.
ReplyDeleteI had NO idea about the bobby pins. Thanks for sharing!
I did not know that about the bobby pins! I realise I am going to have to try this... soon.
