One of our very favorite books is Officer Buckle & Gloria.
Officer Buckle and his dog pal Gloria share safety tips and number them, so I thought it would be fun to do here once in awhile.
We’ll see how far I get :)
Tip #1: Put some mixed nuts in a bowl (this one is from the dollar tree) for simple, lovely autumn decor. Plus, it makes for a great snack that keeps the kids entertained.
It is messy though, so we keep ours next to the garbage with the nutcracker.
Did your Grandpa always have nuts out with a nutcracker?
p.s. did you remember to vote today?
Great book - safety first. :)
ReplyDeleteMy theme this year for the holidays. Nuts and the earthy look. Always got nuts in the stockings and dad always cracked them with the nutcracker....hmmm good memories!
ReplyDeleteI love nuts for a snack, my step-Dad always had out a bowl of nuts and a nutcracker :)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of numbered tips! And yes, there were always nuts with a nutcracker--but it was my father who always had them. I suppose, though, that my father might be close to the age of your grandfather! :)

ReplyDeleteWould you believe I just read that book to our GRANDsons last Friday night?!?!? WOW!! I loved it as much as they did!!!
ReplyDeleteMine did! I still put a bowl of nuts out for Thanksgiving. I don't think my kids ever ate them but I just have to have it out!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you did bring back a memory for me I had forgotten. Yes, my grand parents always had a bowl of nuts with the nutcracker in it. Thanks so much for the memory.
ReplyDeleteMy Grandpa DID always have nuts out and a nutcracker! lol too funny. Thanks for bringing up good memories. ;)
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was the one with the nuts! (In a bowl, I mean. Sheesh!) I spent many hours shelling pecans and watching "The Price is Right" on her old remove-free television.
ReplyDeleteMy grandpa totally had a big bowl of mixed nuts and a nutcracker out around the holidays! I smiled when you said that, is that a classic grandpa thing to do? ;)
