lurking in aisles at a Target near you.

05 January 2012

Well, I should say maybe lurking. Every Target is different, but mine went 90% off this morning for holiday stuff. I’m telling you: the calendar works! It was the same day last year for this store as well.
So, they will have the mumbo jumbo of holiday leftover stuff all crammed in the back corner of the store, but sometimes there are goodies in the regular aisles that are holiday, but the awesome employees (our best friends!) may not know they are holiday and there they sit at 90% off waiting for you to find them.
Here are some treasures I found. Spritz plates, napkins, tablecovers, and foil tissue paper in the regular paper goods aisle on the end cap.
About .20 each:january 2012 003 1

I stock up on tape every year at Target! These all rang up for .20 each, you just have to be friends with the red scanners and scan, scan, scan to see which ones are on clearance.january 2012 006 1
This pillow was mixed in with the regular throw pillows~look for anything that looks slightly holiday-ish. In the past, I’ve scored on soap, paper plates, holiday goldfish, etc. It’s a fun hunt.
Anything in those red boxes was with the holiday stuff~LOVE these clocks, I picked up a few at 70% because I was afraid they would be gone. Is this serendipitous or what: Kate showed one today on her daughter’s nightstand. Mine are going in the bathrooms…

Every store is different, but if you are headed there anyway, you may want to go treasure hunting!  There are wicked clearance sales in the shoe dept and Smith & Hawken aisles too ~good luck! Will you let us know if you find anything great?

  3. I see just a corner of a paisley curtain. Did you get those from Target? I just bought some that look like those for our vacation/rental home in north Georgia. We live in Florida. I luv Target's decorating items.

thanks for the tip, Joyce! I didn't see any in my store, but I have in the past. You just never know what's going to be there each year...the best was when they had dishwasher tabs but they don't make holiday ones anymore as far as I know..

That's right! The toy clearance is also going on...thanks for the reminder! I used to get some AMAZING deals at these. My store here hasn't had the hottest toy clearances~it always amazes me how different each store is. I'll have to check it out!

Awesome, Susan! Our burts bees were red-tagged, so they don't go on sale with the other holiday stuff....BOO.

  16. They were back with the Christmas things... I saw them when they were 50% off and told myself to wait and then I went back at the next mark down and a lady had just picked up the last two when I got there.  Super sad...  I wonder if something was wrong with them to be so cheap?!  Maybe a dent or something?  Who knows... she made me jealous.

  20. I'm impressed!  I was just near a Target tonight and didn't think to go in.  I'm 35 minutes away from the nearest Target.  Wish I had've known!!  :)  Those are GREAT finds you found!

  21. Hi, I love your blog!  Could I ask you where in the store you found the cute clock?  Thanks!

  22. For anyone with kids, these might be good:

Look in the home essentials section by the Solo cups. The Solo Cups for Kids-On-The-Go sets rang up for $0.30. They don't say holiday on them, but on the front it just showed dark green and red versions of the cups (instead of the multicolored cups). Either way, they come with 15 cups, lids and straws and figured they'd be perfect for when my nieces and nephew come for a visit!

    The look like this: http://www.amazon.com/Solo-Plastic-Straw-Combo-Pack/dp/B005RQ5250

  24. I had to go to Target to pick something up today, it was my first chance to check out what is left of the holiday clearance. I was so excited when I saw all the bags of the sheet snow. I know, a silly thing to be excited about, but it is the same type of poly fill I need to stuff some new living room throw pillows I just made. At 20 cents a bag, I can make some great pillows for an amazing price.

  25. Love a good deal!
Wish we had Targets in Canada. I heard they are coming but won't have the same quality stuff.

Oh yes, no Targets yet....but they are coming!! I will be so disappointed if they don't carry the same awesome items :(( I will have to drive to Montana in the summer and hit a Target there instead! :-)

  27. One of my favorite things about your blog is when you post deals... I love it!  It is so interesting to read about and see what you got for great prices!  I'm a full-time grad student on a budget, so seeing your posts about deals really gives me some hope and realization that I can make my space beautiful at little cost!

  29. Melissa,
Found the clock, love how it looks, have it in the master bath, which is open to the master bedroom.  It ticks real loud!  LOL.  So trying to figure out how to keep it, but quiet it at night!  DH calls it the loud drippy clock!  Wish I could have found the napkins.

  30. I saw that neat clock in our Target the other day...just might go back and get one. :) I got a bunch of those glittered snowflake ornaments...$0.30 a pack!!

  31. So frustrating!  Ours is still 70% off and not too many treasures to be found.  I did pick up 2 Burts Bees in the holiday packs for .89 each, down from $2.89.  That is a cute clock!!
