** Updated: many of these are out of stock but we have an updated outdoor lighting post here **
Hello, friends! We have talked about pendant lights here, and sconces here, don’t you think it’s about time to talk about outdoor lighting??
As you can see, I love lantern styles, so I rounded up 10 of my favorites under $100 – most are about $50. I think they are just the finishing touch to the outside that say, “my owners care about me enough to pick out pretty lights – and I look expensive, but you’ll never know how much I really cost…well, unless you go look it up online.”
1. Barrie $52
2. Jamestowne $78
3. Parsons Field $99
4. Sutton 4 Light $100 (you can go smaller for less money)
5. Sea Gull $83
6. Brayden $55
7. Harbor $70
8. Transitional $56 OR see this 2 pack for $35!!
9. Castle Creek $40
10. Satin Black Motion $35
Which is your favorite? Or leave a link to one that you love.
I finally picked one out for our new home – do you want to guess which one? I’ll let you know in the comments tomorrow – I need to do a house update post, it’s moving right along!
I love the look of the lanterns when they are hooked up to a propane source and you get real flame on the inside. I used to see that all the time when I lived in Virginia.
ReplyDeleteMe too! It was beautiful on a brick lined street with lots of trees -- I miss VA!
DeleteI chose light #3 for our exterior fixtures. I love them!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe them in person - so stunning!
DeleteI purchased #7 for our home recently and love it. It fits right in with the rustic cedar farmhouse feel. I can't wait to see which one you selected. :)
ReplyDeleteLove those lanterns! They would fit perfectly with farmhouse style.
DeleteIn my last house my stager had us choose #8's and I really liked how they dressed things up. In my new house I have #1s which are okay to me. I'm still trying to decide which I like best. I think I'm leaning towards 8 or 10 though. I'll be curious to see what you've chosen.
ReplyDelete8 and 10 are perfectly balanced between traditional and modern, which is perhaps why they call them transitional?? :) I got 10 for the back of the house, I'll post pics when we get them up!
Deleteooooh, they are all so cute! 7 and 10 are my faves!
ReplyDeleteI'd pick one that's stationary (so the kids don't run off with it - don't ask) and easy to clean. Now that you are in the West, you've probably realized how dusty it is out here. Also, consider the wind. The one we have on our house, was here when we bought it 10 years ago and was probably installed in the 70's. It's intricate iron work - a bear to clean cobwebs off and the thing has to be practically taken apart to change a light bulb. Very pretty and unique, but I'd eventually like to change it (when it moves up on the priority list).
ReplyDeleteGood points! Your kids ran off with your exterior lights?! :)
DeleteWe have the first one. It is so great to be able to change the bulb and clean the light without having to unscrew everything and balance it just so to get it back on.
ReplyDeleteI love lanterns too! Here's one I've had my eye on-

Oooh, great find! And a great price. I love the modern lines of it, but it's still very classic. Love it!
DeleteI love #10. You have it listed at $35...it's $65 at our store in Michigan!:(
ReplyDeleteSo strange. Put in zip code 84058 for the Orem store and it goes back down. Hmmmmmm...
DeleteWhen we bought our home, we replaced the existing exterior wall lights with something very similar to #8 and #10. They were only $35 for a TWIN pack! We love them! Years later, they still look great and we have had no problems with them.

PS- thank you, Melissa, for everything that you share on here. You have been so helpful and inspiring to me as I work on making this house our home. :)
DeleteOh my goodness! What a steal -- I'll have to add that link above. Thank you, Nicki!!
DeleteWe love lanterns too! We actually have the jamestowne fixture on our house albeit the taller two light version and it looks much more expensive than it is:) my husband is a remodeler and he was blown away by the look as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Jamestowne is gorgeous! We went with #4 and if they are too wide for the spaces, we will go with the more slender Jamestowne.
DeleteWe had replaced the lights at our old house with #10, love them! I like #6 as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback! We got those for the back of the house because they are the motion sensor...
DeleteWe recently replaced our 3 chipped & rusted garage carriage lights with the #6 Brayden lanterns from Lowes. At only $55 each, I think they make a big impact for little money. I do like #3 as well. :-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing the difference new lights can make?
DeleteI love #10, but it's double the price when I click on it.
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy! If you put in zip code 84058 and choose the Orem, UT store, it goes back down to $35. Maybe they have a surplus there??
ReplyDeleteWe have number six on our current house. when we build the farm house I would choose something like number 4. I love the straight lines. The ones I have now are easy to clean and look nice with the style of home we have.
ReplyDeleteWe chose #4 for the front of the house! I love the lines as well and the size -- and it came in a hanging lantern as well for the front porch.
