I used to be a big couponer -- get 5 copies of the Sunday paper, do the whole free stuff after rebates at Walgreens & CVS, shop grocery store sales and stack coupons and get stuff practically for free at the grocery store. I had friends that were totally into it with me and it was always a fun time going out with them to get our deals. Honestly, thinking about it all now makes me tired but I still love to save money in other ways. We live in an area that gets lots of coupons and the ones I save are for pizza, car washes, oil changes, etc. for places that we visit anyway or new ones we want to try on a date.
Way back in November, I was in Staples to get my yearly planner (a martha stewart one they stopped carrying!) I found a huge clearance on Martha organizers. I picked up a couple that I thought could be useful and it turns out they were the perfect solution for organizing some paperwork around here.
For the first one, I put the coupons I would use when we were out and about -- like oil changes, thrift store donation receipts, kids meal coupons the kids get from school, pizza, dates, eating out, etc. This stays in the car so I don't forget it.
And then for the second one, I organize receipts I want to keep for major stores we shop at and keep it in the kitchen desk drawer.
In our file drawer at the desk in the kitchen, I also keep a landscaping folder with everything that we are buying like trees, bushes, etc. because they all have a year guarantee on them, and well, I hope everything stays alive or doesn’t get eaten by deer!
Do you have a system for keeping things like this organized? Or have you gone electronic with your coupons and filing systems?
No, and I desperately need a system! I'm not much of a couponer, but we all have receipts we should be keeping. Thanks for the nudge!
ReplyDeleteDo you remember to take the organizer with you? I forget it! I can't seem to get this part of life down. Receipts, coupons....they just sit in various places in the house. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention--the coupon folder stays in the car!
ReplyDeleteClever!
