Hello and Happy Sherwin-Williams National Painting Week! All week, swpaintingweek.com will feature color inspiration, painting ideas, expert tips, product information and one-of-a-kind projects from DIY design bloggers and professional designers. Then, the big Memorial Day sale will kick off (heads up!) May 17-25 when all paints and stains will be 30% off.
Here is the project that I've been working on.
You remember the thrift store desk and chair for my oldest son's room? I got the chair for $5 and the desk for $20.
I used SW 2848 Roycroft Pewter on the desk in the Emerald brand paint. I wanted a color that would be strong, classic and could grow older with him. I used my trusty sprayer and then topped with a coat of polycrylic. Then I let it sit in the garage for a week to really harden up before we brought it downstairs.
For the chair, I wanted a fun contrast so I used Sherwin-Williams Fireweed (SW 6328) , (a perfect red!) and used a basic ticking stripe fabric for the chair. The wall color is Sherwin-Williams Perfect Greige (SW 6073)
And do you remember the maps that I got back in Virginia for 90 cents?! Here is one of my favorites:
For accessories, we used a bucket full of pencils, an old pencil sharpener spray painted navy, and a clearance desk lamp.
He loves having a desk and has already filled it with boy treasures. We're working on the rest of the room, more to come!
Update: giveaway is now closed. Winner is #82 Julie Wood -- congratulations!
Happy Painting!
* I partnered with Sherwin-Williams on this post because I love their company and paint-- I only team up and receive compensation with companies/brands that I can stand by. Opinions, ideas, pictures writing are 100% mine – full disclosure here.
