how to frame a poster with DIY wood frame * dorm room ideas

    23 September 2020

Hello! I wanted to share a quick and easy DIY frame for a poster or print. I got the idea from Michelle at 4 Men 1 Lady years ago.  Here is how we did it:

She picked this poster from Art.com -- it is called Green Valley IV by Ethan Harper. It was the 40" X 30" for $25 and we cut the white from around it.

Get a pine lattice strip (this one was from Lowe's in the trim section by the windows) for around $4 for an 8 ft piece.

Cut it to size and stain it if you want to -- I used Minwax classic gray mixed with weathered oak. Let dry overnight.

Take your stained lattice pieces, your print, and a hot glue gun. I tried the regular stapler and it wasn't strong enough, then the heavy duty stapler and the staples I had were too long so I ended up going with the hot glue gun.

Have your print/poster ready to go nearby and quickly run a strip of hot glue along the lattice strip

and attach the print. Do the same thing with the top.

To hang, we just used thumbtacks on the back and tied some jute string around each of them. Then use another thumbtack to hang. If you can't make holes in the walls, mounting putty along the strips would be a good alternative. (Poster print is found here)

We added some inexpensive throw pillows from Walmart: rust // pink // corduroy

The 3 pack of hanging shelves are here // bedspread here  // greenery here and here

We love this girl and will sorely miss her around here! We'll see how long she gets to stay on campus??

And her letterboard. I haven't met a person that knows the Sandlot as well as her :)

Thanks for stopping by -- good luck if you are moving a child onto campus!! My heart is with you ♥
