Under $10 Under 1 Hour Party: Spring Edition

Do you remember this print that was FREE by the side of the road last summer?free print

I decided it would be a perfect chalkboard for our master bedroom. It had a crack and big chip, but nothingmarch 2012 049

a little spackle wouldn’t fix.march 2012 051

Just smoosh it in and let it dry. You can lightly sand down any excess.march 2012 053

You can hardly tell it was there. I taped over the linen and gold edging, spray painted the frame heirloom white from the dresser, and sanded some parts to let some gold show through.april craigslist 012 1

I kind of felt bad painting over these lovely ladies with chalkboard paint…march 2012 054march 2012 055

I wrote on chalk right on the canvas:

And that’s it! No out of pocket money since everything was leftovers from other projects, and it took about half an hour total? Not including drying time.

My husband kind of rolled his eyes when he first came in and saw this, but I loved this saying when I saw it on Pinterest, because it was always him. Since we were 17 and through it all. In a sweet, soft, sentimental “it was always you”, not a mean, vicious “it was always YOU!!” Because I suppose it could be read both ways, couldn’t it ?

And the bell is something special from when we were dating :)april craigslist 013 1

And now it’s time to see your stuff! I can’t wait! Just a few things to remember:

*please only one link per blog, but you can put several projects in one post if you would like

*it has to be a project under $10, under 1 hour, no shops or advertising.

*please visit and comment on the 2 links before yours. That’s the best part of these parties, the comments and interaction!

Happy Spring!signature

  8. Great project, Melissa! I love when you've got everything on hand already, not just to save money but so that you can actually do a project from start to finish.  Thanks for hosting! I'll be checking back in to visit everyone else, too.

  16. amazing, i have also been with my husband for forever, since we were 15 (that's 20 years, wow) and i just recently painted a canvas black with white script "it's always been you." and hung it above our bed.  just as you said, it always has been him!  i think it put's it beautifully, and simply.  and it's such a warm sentiment.
