friday tutorial

10 April 2009

When you are practicing different arrangements of your beautiful plates on the wall, don't trip over your baby's bouncer and drop them.

*sniff*

Don't forget the shabby strap giveaway...and have a wonderful Easter weekend. I'll put a little Good Friday message up tonight when I'm done mourning my broken plates...

  1. Oh, wow! What a beautiful collection you can always use them in a mosaic piece and put that on the wall.

    Have a great day!

  5. I am so, sorry! They were so beautiful! I know you will be making more soon though! I ran to get the napkins at TJ Max as soon as I could. They just happened to have a package left with H, the last initial to our name. I spray painted my goodwill plate cream and stayed up till midnight having fun with my project. My plate looks beautiful thanks to you and I even monogrammed a couple more things around my home. I know you will find more plates soon! Good luck with your bathroom remodel. It will be fabulous as you have such great taste. Thank you so much for your great idea!

  12. Oh...I'm heartsick for you my friend! I think, no I know I would have cried! Ever since reading your original post earlier in the week, I've been anxious for the chance to try this out. I have the plates. I'm heading to Tuesday Morning immediately after work today for the napkins. They apparently have some in stock (and on sale beginning today!) Our TJ Maxx was out of our initial! No doubt your next set will be even more beautiful...can't wait to see them. = )

    Happy Easter!

  16. Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! Your plate collection looked beautiful!

I went to Tuesday Morning the other day for the first day of their sale. They had tons of monogrammed things, including your napkins. I picked up a few for myself and for gift but they were a little more expensive than TJMaxx. Maybe I'll head on over to TJMaxx today and check out their loot!

  21. OH NO! So sorry about your beautiful plates. I am a total klutz and can trip over my own two feet, so I totally empathize with you.

On a brighter note, you are such a crafting genius, you will probably come up with some amazing craft project using broken plate pieces. I can just see all of us in a few months breaking our plates on purpose. ;)

  24. Melissa...I need help! I have been following your blog and have been successfully thrift store shopping for item make overs. So I put the first coat of paint on my ceramic item, fine, beautiful. I wait overnight, so its totally dry. Second coat and it immediately bubbles in some spots! my ceramic bunny did this too! What is going on. How do I prevent this. I am very frustrated. I hope you can help me.

  25. Ooooh nooooo! Your plates were so beautiful too. I hope you're able to rescue them somehow.

  26. Since they'll be up high, maybe you can salvage them by gluing them back together. I don't think anyone would be able to see a crack from far away. Sorry that happened...sounds like something I would do!

  27. cutting to the chase... I like the red toile one :) and I *heart* your tunes.
Sorry about your beauties, I loved the tutorial you did to show how to do those. I'll take your advice and clear my path when I do them.

  34. That really stinks, but happens to me all.the.time. I am so clumsy. Always tripping and dropping stuff, so know you are not alone! I just bet you will be able to come up with some other genius way to use those plates though! I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend.

  37. A moment of silence is required for your beautiful, beautiful plates. So sorry. We can all relate...I'm sure each and everyone of us has a similar story to tell. I know I do.
Have a blessed Easter with your family.

  39. I can totally relate. Back in Feb I was decorating for Valentine's Day when I was trying to put up a banner on my hutch. I didn't want to tape it so I put a pitcher on top of the ribbon on each end. I accidentally pulled on the banner & knocked off one of my pitchers which of course had to fall on top of my teapot. My pitcher was in a gazillion pieces (luckily for me it was the pitcher I liked the least) & it broke the lid to my teapot. So now I use my teapot as a vase (which works for me as I don't drink tea). And I now had an excuse for a new pitcher. So it worked out in the end. But your plates were beautiful. I would be in mourning too.

  40. I love those plates with the monograms. I really want to try that. Too bad yours broke! Maybe you can do another entry about how to mend broken plates?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh no! Maybe you can super glue them back together without anybody noticing. (At least that's what I do with everything!!!)

    ReplyDelete
  42. No! What a bummer! Darn it! Oh well... only things! Right?!

    Smiles,

  43. Oh, the horror, the horror....i feel your pain. I hope you are able to find some more pretty plates to hang. Or maybe try to salvage those with glue?

  44. I was going to make a floor mirror out of an old bathroom mirror... and I layed it on the floor to apply glue (to stick to plywood) and tripped.

My big fat body landed on the mirror and now I can't make a floor mirror...probably ever.

    ::sniff::

here's a link to said mirror (before) http://cannwin.blogspot.com/2010/04/craft-5.html
