a september flower garden parable...

15 September 2009

Do you ever feel wilted, worn-out, bent over, and just plain tired?

You look at others, who seem to have it all together, every layer, perfectly in place

...and then you feel even more tired.

The summer has been hard, you've been battered by a few hail storms, you haven't been receiving the water you've needed in the scorching heat.

But ....you're still hanging on.

You start noticing that every flower is worn underneath it all...
even the ones who seem to have "perfect" lives.

You keep reaching toward the sun for warmth and nourishment and spend time with those who build you up and see you for what you are...

and pretty soon, you begin realize who you really are,
and know that you are
beautiful.

  3. That was beautifully written, and so true. It's often all too easy to see someone else's life and wonder why theirs is so much better.
    Have a blessed day, Melissa.

  17. Amen! It does seem like others have it more "together" sometimes...but I guess many of our lives look like that on the outside. Good to know I'm not the only one who doesn't have everything perfect! :)

  23. This is such the parable of my life right now. A little tired and warn out but I just keep going even if I'm a little wilted. I realized this week that I'm not the only one and all my friends seem to be going through the same September woe's. We all comment that we are trying to be so grateful for our busy lives that have gotten us warn down. It does make you realize that scheduling some time to rest and rejuvinate ourselves is very important. If only I could bottle the energy that my 5 kids have had lately!

  24. Thanks for the uplifting message. I just had a baby (which means I have three kids 3 years old or under!) and needed to feel special again. Late nights and lack of showers can really get to a woman! Your blog post came at just the right time.

  27. Very nice. Thanks! I've been feeling burnt and bent over like that little daisy... our summer is going out with a bang of a heat wave. But I'm starting to "feel" fall, and the light is changing, so the weather won't be far behind.

  28. This is lovely. It's been a hard, frazzly summer - thanks for the reminder that feeling beautiful is about the choices we make - what we choose to see, and hear, and believe :)
