And then they see me unloading my van and shoving things inside like doors from garbages and old chairs and headboards and shutters and comforters from Target that were on clearance and I know they think it’s a disease.
She’s trying to fill some lonely void with all this garbage and junk. The 5 kids have finally sent her over the edge. Poor girl.
Should I tell them that we’re finishing our basement (it’s almost there!) and half our house is in the garage? Or should I go over with the shakes and say, “do..do..do you have any junk you want to get rid of?”
At least you have a good reason. Half your house IS in your garage.
ReplyDeleteI, on the other hand, have no good reason. I just have a lot of stuff.
This post made me LOL. I am lurker on your blog and am really glad that you turned back on comments. Also now going to check out Tarjay for comforters.
ReplyDeleteBut, it's the prettiest garage on the block! Mine just has tools & other ugly stuff :)
ReplyDeleteLOL, I say go over with the shakes! Boy will they be shocked when everything is done and put away! Maybe one day you should say "you shoulda seen my last house"
ReplyDeleteThere isn't a garage here (Florida) that doesn't look like that, or worse. LOL
ReplyDeleteToo Funny! I love all the work you do! If it means a messy garage that's a small price to pay for all the incredible stuff you do!
ReplyDeleteOh, this made me so laugh. I was telling my husband that for sure I needed to be on the Hoarders because I know I am one. All he said was, "Ya think?" Needless to say we went on a mission and cleaned our garage on a Saturday from 9:30 - 5:30 with 3 trips to the Goodwill. Whew, I think I'm off the hook for that TLC show, but if they're looking I'll send them your way! You do have some fab stuff in there, I'd love to do some digging!
ReplyDeleteSo funny! I can't wait to see your basement all finished. If you have any leftover junk when you're done decorating, send it my way.
ReplyDelete:0) hahaha...you made me laugh..your last line is so funny that I had to finally comment. lol ...let them think what they will, after your basement is done they will be so proud of you getting rid of "your problem," haha.
ReplyDeletewould it make you feel better if i did a post on the state of MY garage. To echo Denise above, also in FL - they ALL look like that here. My neighbor has her 2 grown sons and their families living with her in 1800 sf right now. Talk about a garage filled to capacity!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny. Your garage still looks better than mine, though. Maybe we should have a "Look at my Garage!" Party! Ha! ann @ housefinally.blogspot
ReplyDeleteThis post made me laugh hysterically. That is how my basement looks, so that makes complete sense! Haha you should post a sign on your lawn that says "Will provide a home for your junk"...
ReplyDeleteAnd P.S. I am jealous of your stash. Those are some beautiful items just waiting to be put somewhere nice!
That is funny. They are probably all jealous and hoping for the mother of all garage sales. At least that is what I would be.
ReplyDeleteI vote for "the shakes"!!! HAHAHA! Awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteGo over with the shakes! Who knows what kind of good stuff they'll hand out?
ReplyDeleteYou have GOOD stuff in there! I can come take some of it off your hands! ;)
ReplyDeleteSarah
Give me the *shakes* every time! Can't wait to see your basement!
ReplyDeleteThat's a riot! I think you should mess with the neighbors...maybe add a couple stray cats to the mix...that should get them going! :)
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely go over with the shakes :)
ReplyDeleteThat is too funny! I say you go over with the shakes :-) Can't wait to see the finished basement.
ReplyDeleteI have no good reason for all the stuff I have piled up in my two bedroom apartment!
ReplyDeleteI think you should totally do the shakes one just for kicks!
Oh my goodness you are hilarious!!! I vote for the shakes!! ;) My garage looks similar and it's all just projects nothing from inside the house YIKES!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! but make a really good point. We have all sorts of link ups a round for our beautiful transformations and georgous houses but dont realize that this is what our garages look like. We should link those up:)That would bea party Im actualy ready for.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny and so true...we haven't fit our car in our garage in 15 years!!! I keep bringing things in and hubby says never throwing anything out! It's all a process, I tell him, I have to paint it, clean it, fix it, before it's ready to come inside! Good luck on the basement! Beth
ReplyDeleteHaha- I love What about Bob. The best movie EVER! haha. And who cares what they think, you've got some awesome crafts to do and your basement will look awesome :) Great job.
ReplyDelete-Bekah
Go with the shakes. Keep 'em guessing and then have a big housewarming party, invite the neighborhood and show off your gorgeous abode!
ReplyDeletehahaha... Even though you have a good reason to have all your belongings in the garage, I am afraid that mine will end up like that just by collecting neat pieces and taking too long to get around to them!
ReplyDeleteat least you have good reason for it to look that crowded. I'm a mom of 6 and my garage looks that bad, and we're not remodeling our basement hahah!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your blog, great ideas, can't wait to read more!!
Stop by mine if you have some time!
I would definately go over with the shakes and beg for junk!!!! :}
ReplyDeleteHaha, approach them with the shakes!!!...then say, "just kidding!"
ReplyDeleteHeehee this post made me laugh!! I'm sure all that you've collected will be put to good use very soon!
ReplyDeleteGemma x
Can't wait to see your basement when it's all finished!!
ReplyDeleteIf you ever need to unload some of it I have a garage that isn't near full enough! Like those dressers in front or that headboard. :)
ReplyDeleteAt the very moment I am reading this, Im covered with the ugliest neon green quilt...ever! And wouldn't you know it's in your garage, too! I should add that although ugly, I love it more than any other blanket/quilt I own! (i'd love to see the front of yours)
ReplyDeleteHa! I'd definitely go with the latter. In the words of Jane Austen, "For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbours, and laugh at them in our turn?"
ReplyDeleteOooooo....I am just like that!! When I see something at a yard sale or thrift store that has great potential....or just too good a deal to pass up....it's coming home with me!! Never mind I have no available space to put it. My husband's all "Where ya gonna put that?" And I'm "Oh, I'll just sell something at our next yard sale"...but I never do...so grows the garage "junk"!!
ReplyDeleteI am truly LOL at you...so good!!
Sadly, my garage looks similar, and we are done finishing our basement. ;)
ReplyDeleteI needed a good laugh. Can't wait to see what treasures are hiding in there.
ReplyDeleteI had to giggle at the pillows in the garage. Funny! My basement looks like this. It's sad.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the crazy act will get the neighbors to send some casseroles over. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've got you beat - we rented this house b/c it not only has a garage but a barn in the back and they are both stuffed - and not with good stuff like yours either (: ~Page
ReplyDeleteThis IS exactly how my garage looks and I have a separate storage unit filled to capacity too!!! :) I hope to tackle the mess this summer...so many projects, so little time!!! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYou think yours is bad? You haven't seen anything till you've been to my house. Almost to drywall in our basement and I cannot WAIT to see what has been shoved into my garage the past year again!
ReplyDeleteNah! Don't tell anyone you're finishing your basement! You just go ahead and own it, girl! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a lurker, but I say? Definitely go over there with the shakes!!! That made me laugh out loud!
ReplyDeleteour garage currently looks somewhat like this as well. But all for a good reason, hubby's building is almost completed in the back of our property so all his large tools will be removed from the garage. I see it everyday in it's state of chaos and just think to myself this is only TEMPORARY! Thanks for keeping it real!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chuckles. Laughter is good medicine. And some of those comments made me laugh, too. (Thanks for turning them back on!) It IS a good stash. I vote for the housewarming when it's all done--and don't forget to invite Bob! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny! Glad your basement is nearing completion.
ReplyDeleteWon't the bus driver be amazed next year when he stops at your house and sees that the garage is not only cleaned out, but organized and decorated? He may ask for a tour!
I vote for the going over and introducing yourself! That is pretty funny. ;)
ReplyDeleteCourageous! I will NEVER show pix of my garage....of course that would mean actually finding a spot to STAND to take the picture. :-)
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,
Spencer
Kohl's had a great sale on bedding too. I found a couple Chaps ones for only $40 - twin size. They had lots of sheet sets to choose from too - all sizes. Love Kohl's. I'm sure when your basement gets finished you'll actually be able to park in your garage. Can't wait to see all your projects.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun place to look for treasure. Can I come play?? LOL
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny! You might need to go on that Hoarders show:) LOL!
ReplyDeleteHubby and I had a discussion about hoarding earlier today, so after reading and laughing at this post, I called him over to read it and see your pics. I think he laughed harder than I did. Thanks for the entertainment!
