Rabbit!
I’ve been keeping my eye out for an old Main Street sign since I saw this picture and fell in love:
(not sure of the source? it was in my inspiration file…)
I had saved a search on Ebay for vintage main street signs. Tip of the day: If you are looking for something specific on Ebay, search for it and then when the results come up, click save search:
Then, a box will come up asking you to name the search and then you can have new items emailed to you. It’s a good way to be notified when new items are listed that may be just the thing you’re looking for.
Anyway, some street signs came up in my search….no main street signs but this seller had a bunch of actual 1940’s street signs (these are big…search street sign…they have lots of other numbers!) and this one caught my eye: We have a thing for the number 14 in this house:
*it was my husband’s number in football (high school)
*when I was little I always wanted to be married on June 14. It just sounded like a perfect wedding date.
*when we began to be more than friends my senior year of high school, we had our all night graduation party and there was a “gambling room” where you could win prizes with points you had collected. My (future) husband dared me to put all my points on number 14, and so I did. I won the jackpot and took it as a sign that sticking with this 14 boy could be a good thing…
*my little 3 year old is obsessed with the number 14 and 41. Could Dad have an influence on this? :) His favorite time in the afternoon is 4:14, 4:41, and 4:44.

Why not bring things in your house that have meaning to you and your family or tell a story? Quotes, numbers, pictures, illustrations from favorite books, paintings that have meaning to you, maps of places you have been or hope to go, framed notes or letters, souvenirs from travel, artwork from your kids….
I’m still trying to find the perfect spot for it, but wanted to give you a heads up if you have a special number in your family.
{I have no affiliation with this seller, except that I love my street sign….}
Happy March!
Wow! I'm impressed that he is still selling them. So glad you were able to find one :)
ReplyDeletethank you for this information, his shipping went up, but I got a 24th street sign. I love that number and always have and my kids think it is crazy, but it will mean a lot to us and that will make it look awesome! thank you!!
ReplyDeleteI did want to be a June bride, but in reality it didn't work out with work schedules. So...I'm an August bride.
ReplyDeleteThat is so neat. Now it will have extra special meaning...
ReplyDeleteAnd, if I remember, isn't your birthday on the day I was supposed to get married?? We need to find you a 41 or a 14...
ReplyDeleteI love that idea of decorating with things that have special meaning to you or the family (even better). I love both street signs.
