I have to admit, this nearly perfect summer day almost didn’t happen. We’re getting ready to go on our big trip, my to-do list is a couple pages long, and I was thinking of other things we could do that wouldn’t take as much time and picking up some berries at the Farmer’s Market, but look what we would have missed:

the blueberries were huge and scrumptious this year!
Beautiful country homes and churches:
We stopped for some peaches and cow tales on our way
As we were driving home, my oldest said, “I am SO happy right now.”
What a lovely day in pictures! Thank you for sharing it!!
ReplyDeleteLove hearing about your fabulous summer day with the kids. I am in shock to see the buckets and buckets of blueberries. How fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet time to spend together. I love your photos. When I see old rundown houses I always wish I could restore them.

Melanie Jorgensen just told me about your blog -- you're amazing!! I was really glad I made time for blueberries, too -- they were awesome! I recognized most of those homes/churches, but where is that bridge?! We've never been there.
ReplyDeleteI just love that picture of the kids inside the bridge. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHolding hands in that bridge - it doesn't get any better than that!
ReplyDeleteOf course, I adore the hand holding pic the most ;)
ReplyDeleteThat first house has so much potential, it was probably well loved by a couple who raised their children and then passed away and would hate to see it in such disrepair now...at least that's how I think the story should be told :)
We have blueberry bushes in our backyard...nothing better than fresh picked right off the bushes! What a fabulous day, and that picture is priceless of the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteSuch gorgeous photos, and such a fun day. Can you just imagine what a gem that old house must have been???!
ReplyDeleteWhat an absolutely perfect day! I am jealous of your blueberry picking adventure. They don't grow here in Utah. :(
ReplyDeleteSo glad you guys enjoyed your visit to scenic Newport. We love living there.
ReplyDeleteLol, Kathy! They did all have blue hands and mouths that I felt like we
ReplyDeleteshould definitely round up when we went to pay :)
I DO see the potential! AND WOWza those were huge blueberries! Looks like an amazing time! Praying you and yours are well, Melissa. I've been out of the loop but hope to be able to stop by more often :) Hugs, Sami Jo
ReplyDeleteIt does. Way more often than I would like...
ReplyDeleteYou're making me jealous with all of that green and beauty there! I'm glad you're family had such a great day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! What state do you live in? We are in Arizona and definitely have nothing like that! The scenery is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat dumb busy fluff stuff has a way of taking over, doesn't it? What a glorious day you had and wonderful memories you made. Sounds perfect!
ReplyDeleteLooks like everyone had a memorable day..I love the photo of everyone holding hands on the bridge..Have a great weekend..

ReplyDeleteI used to live in Blacksburg, VA and those houses look quite familar! I love the little town of Newport, I use to go there ofthen when I was younger. What a fun day you had, makes me want to go pick blueberries even though I still have 10 pounds in the freezer! I am totally going to have to drive out to our covered bridge and do a shot like that I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day. The bridge picture made my mama heart melt as well. :)
ReplyDeleteThis makes me so happy looking at the pictures. :)
ReplyDeletePerfect day, Melissa! I love that picture of them holding hands crossing the bridge. You just have to frame that one! The blueberries look so delicious; did many make it home? : )

Loved this post! Thanks for sharing and for making my mommy heart ache, too! :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this post - such a great reminder of what is important. And that photo of the buckets of blueberries? My son would have put a serious dent in all three before buckling his seat-belt for the ride home. Thanks for blessing us today! xoxo michele

How did you know *exactly* what I was thinking?? :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the one you said you'd like to fix up. I have one around here that would be a dream to fix too. BUT money!! Oh well, I can always imagine. ;)
ReplyDeleteWhere is that yellow country house?! I did a double take when I saw the photo. It looks SO similar to my house! Really, really similar! (It's not mine.) But I have never seen a photo of a house with such a similar layout and color too. It intrigues me. So just curious as to where you found it. I am in Ohio, by the way. I'll email you a photo of mine so you can see the similarity. :)
