I am taking the Pinterest Challenge today over at Ten June! I got to meet Michelle at Haven and loved her. Cutest pregnant lady you’ve ever seen. Anyway folks, there is too much pinning and not enough doing around here. So let’s go:
This is one of the very first pins I ever pinned:
and there is not a source anymore. If you know it, please fill us in! Hearts of places you’ve lived or are special to you…love.
This is what I began with: a $3.95 print from Goodwill.
and I’ve been collecting second hand atlases just for this project (mmmm, and maybe another :)
I made a template out of a piece of posterboard and then started cutting up beautiful pages of maps in these atlases. I felt kind of wicked for a minute, then it was kind of fun.
I used some brown craft paper and some double sided sticky tape to mount the hearts of all the places we’ve lived since we’ve been married.
The frame and mat obviously got a coat of spray paint too…(did you know you can spray paint mats?? oh yes, you can!)
This one’s going in the kid’s bathroom….much more to come on that!
Are you up to the challenge? Come on over and link up~grab one of your favorite pins and get going!
Have you ever used a map as art?
Is this where all those maps from the newest post are going? Hahaha. I love the idea, although I'd use shapes other than hearts. Anything that would look natural with "veins" in them, like leaves. I'd try it, if only I had a couple of maps to spare. I'll also try adding a little bit of finish to add more texture to it.
ReplyDeleteFound the map hearts here:
