Love the Home You Have

31 March 2015

Hello! I am excited to share a book *I love*. It is called Love the Home You Have by the wonderful Melissa Michaels of the Inspired Room. I have read LOTS of home books and wondered how much more there is to say? But I looked forward to reading this every night and felt like I got LOTS of new ideas and helped calm my disappointment with my never ending home to do list.

I loved Melissa’s lessons she has learned from each of her homes, humor (dead rats in the walls?!), little insights and tips & tricks, and her down-to-earth-you can totally do this attitude. She tackles topics we all need like decluttering, daily routines, loving what you have (even when you don’t like it!), getting rid of unrealistic expectations, creating a haven,
and even has a 31 day Love Your Home Challenge where she gives encouraging tasks to help you see your home in a different light.

I’m sharing the day 26 challenge: Make It Happen. “Those nagging projects that hang over your head can steal your joy…pick one project you can make progress on or even finish and celebrate your progress.”
The grout in my kitchen along my subway tile and countertops was beginning to crack and break up from settling and every day use. It didn’t look good, and I actually prefer waterproof caulk between the tiles and the counter. I have had it on my to-do list for the past 3 months to clean out the grout and to caulk that line around the kitchen counter. I was dreading it, but decided this was the day! Just scrape the rest of the grout out with an old butter knife,
remove grout
Snip off the top off the caulk with your caulk gun handle, then I like to tape off where I want the caulk line to go.
036
Run a bead of caulk, it’s okay if it’s not perfect because you’ll smooth it out with your finger040
run finger along caulk

Remove the tape, and there you go! It honestly took me an hour to do the whole countertop. Why do I let projects like this overwhelm me and then be put off again and again?? It felt so good to just do it.

What you're saying is completely true. I know that everybody must say the same thing, but I just think that you put it in a way that everyone can understand. I'm sure you'll reach so many people with what you've got to say.

This is the precise weblog for anybody who needs to seek out out about this topic. You notice so much its almost arduous to argue with you. You positively put a brand new spin on a subject that's been written about for years. Nice stuff, simply nice!
