Guest bedroom decor ideas

08 February 2018

Hello! I am kind of in my crazy ADD home projects mood again  -- I feel like I’m starting a million things but finishing very few. I’ve been trying to clean out closets and I was in the guest bedroom and I pulled out the posters, the frames, the curtains, the rod, and the bedding I had stashed in the closet for this room and decided right then and there that it was going to happen today (well, yesterday)

Wait, you do remember what this room looked like before Christmas??

It was definitely in need of some love. First up, these posters!! The national park posters from Lantern Press get double thumbs up from me, I love them. They make great décor pieces, the colors are fabulous, and they are just a fun reminder of places you have visited. I used two of our most favorite places on Earth – Glacier National Park and Waterton National Park

I got the 12X18 art prints (one in the gift shop and one on Amazon) and then used the Ikea Ribba 19X27 frames for $14.99 each and then spray painted the frame with Krylon Shortcuts in Antique Bronze. The prints were a bit shy of the mat so I just turned the paper that comes with the frame to the backside, which is white and double stick taped the poster to the white paper. Does that make sense?

The bedding was from Target on a 40% off sale – called the Blake Quilt Set, but I don’t know if it’s available anymore? I have loved the set – it comes with 4 pillows and the grey ones are from Ross.

The headboard is the Grayson from BHG at Walmart for $99. The paint color on the walls was the same we used in our master bath – Sherwin-Williams 7057 Silver Strand.

On the nightstands are lamps that you have seen moved throughout my house that used to be taupe, some greenery and this Wi-Fi password sign from Hobby Lobby that I loved (only $4.49!). You can write your password on the glass with a dry erase marker.

The desk was clearance from Costco last year ($99!) and the mirror I got forever ago at a yard sale for a couple of dollars. We have faux wood blinds on the windows so the curtains (from World Market at the crazy good friends & family sale) are just for looks paired with my favorite curtain rod from Wal-Mart.

A clock and wood box from Target that I’ve had forever. Favorite guest bedside books to pick up at thrift stores: A Short Guide to a Happy Life // Far Side Gallery // The National Parks // The Long Winter (in the winter) // We Had Everything But Money

Hopefully our guests feel more welcome! Thanks for stopping by~
