In other news... I took these tins that I got with my mom at Home Depot after Christmas for 50 cents each

Another shelf accessorized~ah yeah! Just what do I put in those tin pots? My ipod and some starbursts in one, and my camera in another.

We had kind of a crazy weekend, so I didn't intentionally head out to yard sales, but stopped at a few on the way home from the park on Friday. I found:
this lovely framed doily with dusty mauve and country blue accents for $1. Can't resist chunky frames like this:

A few more shelves to show you:
Here are the numbered pots on a shelf with a frame,

And here is another shelf with the PB dishes with an empty black frame (both from yard sales) behind them.

I'll keep showing you as it comes together...happy Monday!
I'm sharing my thrifty treasures over at Rhoda's today:
So, I told you the laundry room is coming little by little, so I'll try to show you a little each day.

For the candle, I simply took a big, fat, green candle from TJ Maxx, cut a strip of scrapbook paper from Michaels and wrapped it around the bottom, and then took a piece of rope and tied it between the two.
Sonic cherry limeade chillers.
They are divine.
And you can get one for 99 cents now until July 24th on Sonic's website.
But warning: once you try one, you'll be going back for more. I've used every email I've ever had and will be using my husband's next.
Sonic Guy: "Hey lady, weren't you just here getting one these a couple of hours ago??"
Me: "Oh no,no....that must have been another crazy blonde lady in a white van with Behr grasscloth green paint in her hair, Target sunglasses, and 5 kids in the back." :)
Have a great weekend~

Some great news: remember the Ethan Allen desk and hutch from the $35 yard sale? Remember how I ran back to measure to see if it would fit? I wanted it to fit in my laundry room and it does~perfectly!
Eventually, it will probably end up in one of my daughter's room. But for now, it's going to be my work space in the laundry room.
Doesn't that sound inviting?
The laundry room?
Hey, I'll take what I can get. :) The kitchen desk is much more of a family area, so I want to make it into a little space I can love and retreat to.
So, for my first baby steps, I painted the backboard Grasscloth by Behr (this is the same color Rhoda used in her laundry room). Then I added the pottery barn plates and candlestick from that same wonderful yard sale.

Remember this little cupboard shelf I found one weekend at a yard sale? I've decided to put her in my laundry room and a little makeover was in order!

And there we have a perfect little ribbon holder for my laundry room.
See the little cupboard on top? That's where I keep my fabric scissors so little hands can't use them for cutting who knows what, plus it looks like a perfect place for my chocolate stash. :)
I can't put her up yet, because I'm not finished painting, but I'm trying to keep myself motivated with little, satisfying projects. :) Oh, and you know that's not all the ribbon I have...I have 2 more boxes of these, but for the ones I use most often, it's pretty handy...

I saw these little numbered pots in Anthropologie and thought they were perfection:

$12 each though?
Maybe not so perfect. So, I stored the idea back in my mind for future use. My brain hurts sometimes because I try to keep too many ideas.
Fast forward about a month and I was in the Target dollar spot (hard to imagine, isn't it :)
Anyway, I see these great little tin buckets for $1 a piece and bought a couple (they're great for storing crayons, sidewalk chalk, binkies, etc.

Then last week I see these black and white hang-y things to put in a doorway in the dollar spot section for $2.50
They caught my eye though because of the shape and the little metal rings that they were connected with.
The anthro pot suddenly came to the front of my mind. Cha-ching!
They're not going to look exactly like Anthro's but the look will be inspired by it.
First, I'm going to take these little fake potted ferns I found at Michaels for 2.49 each. That whole store seems to be on clearance! These are the same ones I used outside~love them, so I bought some more.
Then, I went to our favorite free font site, dafont.com and downloaded numberpile font for free. (this is the same site I used for the monogram onesies )
Then, I printed a 1 and 2 off at 150 font size. (The 1 is capital B and the 2 is capital C)

I'm putting them in the laundry room and I'll promise I'll show you where in a little bit. It's coming though~I'll show you my progress as I move along...
So, now what do I do with all of these??

I cut them out, leaving a little white around the black circle so if (okay, when) I cut unevenly you won't be able to tell against the white background. Then, I just used a glue stick to glue them to a white circle and just hooked the little wire circle part to the bucket and stuck the ferns inside. It left a perfect little white rim around the number:

So, now what do I do with all of these??

Make a number label for everything in my house?
My daughters don't have their ears pierced yet and have tried to clip some on as earrings. My son tried to clip them to his nose.
Lovely...

Nester is having a Price My Space Party! Love this party because I have the annoying trait that I can remember where I got almost everything in my house and how much I paid for it. I'm so glad others do as well...
Let's take a look at the dining room, aka eat in kitchen space:

2. Made an 80's framed print into a chalkboard with a few coats of chalkboard paint. $5 for the framed print at a yard sale, 3.00 for a can of chalkboard spray paint at Walmart. Total: $8
3. Curtains are Pottery Barn's Harrison Stripe. They sell on their site for $69 for each panel, but I found them on Ebay for $29 for the pair. Score! Love the thickness and rich color.
4. Dining Room table~we bought about 6 years ago in Idaho from the classified ads for $450. The oak wouldn't have been my first color choice, but it's solid wood, heavy, sturdy, includes 2 leaves that can make it huge. It's been a perfect family table for us. If I get ambitious, I may give it a new finish one day.
6. The light fixture came with the house. Not the prettiest, but at least it's black and not brass :)
Here's a close-up of #1 and #5:

1. Pottery Barn picture ledges: $10 for both from a yard sale in Idaho. They were white and I spray painted them black.
*the black frames: my sil, Kristine picked them up for me at $1 a piece at a bargain outlet called Market Square in Utah, and they came with the mats!
*the bigger black frames in the middle: one is from a yard sale for $1 and the other from Walmart for $3. I've put pictures of all seasons in the frames so I never have to worry about switching them out.
Total for both ledges and frames: $23
5. Little kitchen corner:
*little white table is from a yard sale~haven't done a thing to it and I love it. $8
*accessories on top of the table:
lamp from a yard sale $1, green enamelware bowl with green balls $10 from some shops in Utah, little picture frame .25 yard sale, and the red and white striped dishcloth was from Ross for 1.99.
* The black ladder back chair is from a yard sale for $5 and the wreath was free from my mom.
Total: $21.24
So, my grand total with furniture and all accessories: $530.21
Not too shabby...
Have a great Monday!
