I thought I would share a moving plan that is kind of spiffy. Instead of writing what is inside the box all over the outside of the box, get yourself a notebook and designate it your moving notebook. Guard it with your life! This will be the place you put all of your moving info~receipts, phone numbers, house hunting info, to-do lists, etc. When you get in the car, you ask (in this order): where is the moving notebook?? Dramamine? dvd remote? camera? baby bottle? oh yeah, and my purse?”On the outside of the boxes, get these cool stickers that have the rooms on them or write LR (Living Room) and then number them.
I was going to do a feature like this about once a month, but there are too many good things out there!
First of all, I need to tell you about an online auction for a sweet boy named Mark, who suffers from a rare condition of Idiopathic Sclerosing Mesenteritis. I have donated a full room consultation (not sure that it's going to help, but I wanted to donate something!) and there are some fantastic goodies over there you can bid on to help this brave boy and his family.

When I heard that Ralph Lauren was discontinuing their paint at HD, I went into a bit of a panic and decided I had better get my hiney over there to pick up the color cards before they were all gone! When Martha Stewart discontinued her Living line at Kmart, I was so sad that I didn’t get the cards of some of the colors~they are so hard to find now! I wasn’t going to let that happen again, so I went and started collecting:

This is not a fun market to be putting a house up for sale. For those of you facing this soon, my heart goes out to you!
Ours sold quickly (4 days, 2 offers) and some have asked for tips or things we did to help it move quickly. I'm no realtor or expert, but here are a few thoughts:
1. Start Now
If you even think there's a slight possibility that you could be selling in the next couple of years, make a list of all of the projects you want to complete to make it sale ready. Replace those brass fixtures, put in that flooring, get that wallpaper down, dig the paint rollers out. Tackle one project a week. Don't do all the work for the new owners~get it done and enjoy it.
If you are in a time crunch with lots to do, really consider taking some time off of work. This is the biggest ticket item you'll ever sell and a few days of projects around the house could mean thousands of dollars in the end.

Thank you soooo much for all of the basement help. It's like having our own personal team of experienced basement consultants and the contractors are gonna hate all of the questions I'm brewing up for them.
I wanted to share some things that caught my eye this week. Some are older, but we just got our internet hooked up this week and I'm playing catch up...
