I love my readers! I got this email from Joanna today:

“I know from your blog that you are a Target Picture Frame fan too. I was at my local Target today (Indianapolis, IN) and they had tons of picture frames on Clearance. I was getting $16.00-19.00 frames for $3.xx. They also had tons of bath towels, sheets, etc on Clearance. Just a heads ups!”
Girl, you read my mind! I was there last night and I discovered the same thing! I only got two of these, but there was sooo much more on clearance. I’m going to be using some in my living room! I also saw some big chunky mirrors for 75% off (I know~where was my camera??) I didn’t get any because I had gotten some at their January clearance, but you can usually unscrew the mirror and put a picture in its place for a big impact. I’ll show you what I mean next week…We received Iowa in the mail and I was thrilled when Sarah agreed to guest post on what she loves about Iowa.Enjoy!~Melissa
I needed to escape one night after the kids were in bed. You know those days when you just have to get out of the house and you don’t care if it’s just down to Kroger to stuff your face with a Dove bar to grab some milk and bread? I was wandering down the magazine aisle and this one caught my eye:
You may have seen her button over there and down on my sidebar. -->
I loved it and said that I would sing it’s praises from the rooftops. You know I love details and these are things I wish I would have known 2 years ago when I started to try to paint furniture:
what type of furniture should I look for?
what brands do you use?
sand or not sand?
brush, roll, or spray?
what are your favorite paint colors?
how in the heck do you glaze?
what about embellishments?
She answers all of these, plus much more in her 83 page book.
And it’s only $10.
She and her husband started re-finishing furniture and it was selling like hotcakes on Craigslist, so they turned it into their own business called Altar’d.
Here are some of the examples of furniture they’ve sold:
Remember my $10 Goodwill table?
Oklahoma came from Lisa at BLJ Graves Studio. She’s also in the middle of a kitchen makeover at her blog and has a lovely Etsy shop.

This vintage blue Connecticut plate literally took my breath away. Isn’t it beautiful?? Thank you, Stephanie Wright! (loved the card too)
Thank you for the great time and great ideas! I think I made it around to you all and I cannot believe what can be done with $10 in one hour.
Here are just a smidgen of the fantastic-ness I spotted:
