the little green table that was...

16 October 2008

Remember the poor neglected table at the yard sale for $3? We got her and brought her back to her new home.

My inspiration for her makeover: these tables at Hobby Lobby. Very cute, but not a very cute price at $249.99??? Well, I guess they are always 50% off, but still.

Are you ready to see her in all her glory???
TA-DA!! She's much happier with her new look and has fit right into our furniture family:

She just needed a few accessories, and she is set. The candles and candlesticks are from the Dollar Tree, little wire basket from a yard sale (was gold, sprayed black), real little pumpkins were on sale last week 3/$1 at the grocery store, the little trunk was from a yard sale in Montana a loooooong time ago, my sister Kristin found the little pumpkin hollow sign at a bookstore a few years ago, and I have had that little leaf frame forever. I can't even remember where I got it. (or how much I paid for it~can you believe it?? :)

Here she is today:

I'm linking up to Sarah at Thrify Decor Chick's Goodwill Party. This was an oldy, but goody I wanted to share :)

    wow!
your accessorizing is such a gift - I have such a huge problem with that - nothing ever looks "right" :(
and that price of gas - GET OUT! that's almost like a whole dollar cheaper than we are! (Yesterday I paid like $3.73) be happy you moved - LOL

  3. Very cute table. You should open up your own pottery barn - but that's less expensive! :) Cute pumpking hollow sign, too - I love it but I don't remember finding it. Anyway, I'm moving down to Texas now to save money on gas!

  4. First of all, JAW DROPPING GAS PRICES! Wow, I'm jealous. I wasn't sure we'd ever see gasoline under $3 again and perhaps in Idaho we won't. As for the table, I have to admit that when I first saw that you bought it I could not see the potential, but Melissa, it turned out FANTASTIC!

  5. Your table turned out so cute! And I am super excited to learn about the brown glaze on cream. I've been wondering how to do that for a while. Yeah for cheap(er) gas!

  25. I am new to your blog and am absolutely in LOVE!! =) Can you give a little info about the table? I absolutely love it and am inspired to find my own $3 table to redo. What color is that creamy base? Is the top painted brown or is that restored wood that you stained?! LOVE IT!! My husband and I are very slowly in the process of updating our house and I love everything you have done with yours. So amazing!

  26. Love your blog and I adore makeovers be them bathrooms, furniture of whatever. Its really amazing what a bit of TLC can do to a neglected piece of furniture and I applaud you for not paying a fortune for MDF but rescuing an oldie and making her beautiful again.
