I was walking past these cookies this week at the grocery store, remembering I had signed up to send cookies to my oldest daughter's class Valentine party today.

I almost picked them up to put in my cart, and then I thought, no, it's tradition to make sugar cookies for Valentines. It will be a fun time with the kids, it will make an awesome blog post, especially for Julia's Hooked on Valentines friday party. Beautiful cookies, a few pictures of the kids delightfully helping, can't wait!
Remember the empty frame I found at a yard sale over the summer for $2 that used to have a mirror in it? (on the floor)
It also got a makeover last weekend with some of the leftover cork from the ugly bulletin board, a new coat of black, and some fun green print fabric:

It also got a makeover last weekend with some of the leftover cork from the ugly bulletin board, a new coat of black, and some fun green print fabric:You can create a font in your own handwriting~for free!
Go to http://www.yourfonts.com/ and it will lead you right through it. You'll need a printer and a scanner. The thing that took the longest was filling out the template~I was trying to get it perfect and spent forever. I added some little symbols on the bottom too.

How fun to be able to use your own handwriting on the computer for scrapbooking, address labels, little notes, lists, letters...the possibilities!
And look at the bottom of the post~there is my name in my own handwriting!
To add your signature to your blog, you'll have to use your new font to write your signature in a photo editing program, then host it on a site like photobucket.com or flickr.
Then, follow the instructions on this little tutorial here.
Have fun!
I had sick kids again this weekend, so it wasn't the weekend to tackle our bathroom, but I had major cabin fever, so I did sneak out to the garage to work on a few bulletin boards:
I found this chunky frame with a velvet lining at a yard sale over this summer.

Here's a big old stained bulletin board that I got for .50~I cut out a piece to fit behind the frame,

What a great week with a free photo book and the awesome posts by Susan!
I wanted to start the weekend by sharing some finds brimming with red/ valentine goodness throughout blogland this week:
Do you remember this lovely light from my master bath (that I'm supposed to be working on??)
Special Time Part 2
by Susan
(Melissa threw in a few ideas)
We all know the saying—“actions speak louder than words”. Here are some actions or ideas to show our children the love that will fill up their emotional tanks to help them feel our unconditional love that we have for them. Remember, it doesn't have to cost anything; a child spells love T-I-M-E.
*Go get an ice cream cone. $1 scoop night at Baskin Robbins is our favorite. (It's on Tuesdays here)

*Go for a walk, bike ride, scooter it or go on a drive.
I have to give a little background on my guest poster today. Susan is awesome. She' s someone you're attracted to instantly because of her warmth, smile, sense of humor and kindness. I adore her kids also~they are some of the most happy, well-behaved, polite kids and just a joy to be around. We were getting all ready to move from Idaho to Texas, and I really wanted to corner Susan and ask her, "how do you do it? what's the secret to your awesome kids?" We were at a barbeque at some friends home, I was sitting next to Susan and her husband, and I did just that. I asked them, and they said simply, "special times." Susan had given a presentation on special times at a church meeting, and I loved it and knew I wanted to make it part of our family traditions. But, our kids were young and we didn't make it a priority. Soooo, on the long drive to Texas, I went over it with my husband and he loved the idea as well, and we decided it would be a priority here. It has been such a blessing in our lives, and our kids. Now, I am not saying our kids are even close to perfect~they're not. But, I love what it has done for our relationship with our kids. We do it once a week, and rotate between the two of us, so every child gets at least one "special time" a month with mom or dad. They love it and never let us forget and especially love choosing what we're going to do together. We are believers in this, so I asked her to share. Thanks, Susan!
