    19 February 2010

I’m sure y’all have heard this song (I am so far behind the times when it comes to music)  but I heard it for the first time this week in the car and the tears just wouldn’t stop. I had to pull over and pull myself together. She sings a beautiful truth:

    :

And for fun~do you remember this performance she gave on American Idol? My favorite~I wish she would put it on her next album. You have to hear what Simon had to say afterward. Smartypants :)

    Have a great weekend!

    a complete moving guide {from you} + winners!

    16 February 2010

I put all of your wonderful moving tips into one place to create the ultimate moving guide. If they want to publish us, we’ll split the royalty 27 ways :) Mine are here and without further ado, here are yours:

Start packing as soon as possible! ~Amanda
~if you know you'll be moving soon, start decluttering now. It will make things much easier in the long run. ~linda
As you are packing get rid of things you don't need, never use or are broken. Don't hold on to anything that you wouldn't love to see in your next house. And when you unpack get rid of a few more things. Less to pack and less to put away.  ~SewsCute
My best advice would be to make it a point to clean everything out before you pack. If you find stuff and just stuff in into a box, knowing full well that you haven't used it in years then you are just taking up useful space!!!! Pack with a trash bag and a donation bag next to your packing boxes. Then at the end of the day, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you are actually ONLY packing things that you and your family need and USE. If you've got to pack up anyhow, why not use it as a chance to spring clean? ~Becky

    project {entry}way

    11 February 2010

I was really tired of seeing our back entryway look like this:

    January 2010 047

I decided to take action. We’re going to be removing some shelving in the basement, so I snatched couple of boards from down there. If you don’t have spare boards in your basement, you can figure out the size you want and the nice people at Lowes or Home Depot should cut them to size for you….

    the long winter: 2010 version

    10 February 2010

I’m still here…we just have been having storm after storm. (We’re in Virginia) Laura Ingalls Wilder has nothing on us :) The kids have been to school for 3 hours in the past 2 weeks, and we’re all a little stir crazy, but I think we’re past the worst. I was unpacking a box of photo albums and I came across this quote by Lowell Bennion that used to hang in our first apartment. It brought tears and so many memories. It was exactly what I needed to hear, so I thought I’d share it with you, along with some pictures of the snow I’ve taken in the past few weeks:
