    14 January 2011

I forgot to take a before, but just imagine chaos: grocery bags with medicine stashed, a bunch of empty dollar store shoebox containers, towels and sheets stuffed in, etc.
Here are a few things I love to use when organizing:

    * dollar store plastic shoe boxes. They contain and stack. And they are $1 each. Is it driving you crazy that the colors on the bottom bins are reversed? I did it on purpose to drive you type A girls crazy. (not really…I just barely noticed)

purging, paint quotes, and a perfect white?

    10 January 2011

    purge–verb (used with object)

    1. to rid of whatever is impure or undesirable; cleanse; purify.

    2. to rid, clear, or free

    january 2011 003 1

We have been purging. We took 3 of these loads to the Goodwill. It feels sooooo good. Originally, I was going to throw it all in the attic and bring it down for a spring yard sale. And I saw how much there was, and I thought of the sorting and the pricing, and I just wanted it out. Out of our house and away from me in case I changed my mind. I was just in one of those throw it out! I don’t care! moods, where everyone in your family is laying over their valuables to protect it from being thrown into the pile. (Except for my husband who was looking on with pure delight)

I’ll show you some pictures soon!

Last week, I was in Benjamin Moore talking painting kitchen cabinets and the guy suggested getting a quote on having it done professionally. He said it may not be as bad as you might think since it’s usually slower in the winter for painters.

So, we had one of the recommended painters come over and this morning he called with the quote and this is what I scribbled down:

january 2011 005 1Not going to happen. So, here they sit waiting for me to take them out of their state of oak.january 2011 010 1 I need a perfect white kitchen cabinet color. Not too white, not too cream…just a perfect creamy white. Suggestions?? I need to get going on this dreaded project….

    courage for the week 1.9.11

    08 January 2011

My roommate, Dani, posted this on our fridge in college. It has been a favorite since…

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

    neighbor gifts for next year…

    05 January 2011

My Target holiday stuff went 90% off today. My boys and I made it there around 9 a.m. after calling the store this morning to see if it was 75% off or 90% off. Not much left, and not a roll of wrapping paper to be found. My plan to give it to neighbors next year was foiled. BUT…
they had tons and tons of buckets of cookie cutters for .99january 2011 010 1
