It’s totally a first world problem, but it’s got me in a rut for Hailey’s room. She wanted white, gold, and blush in her room and so far it’s working pretty well. We were going to finish it up last week and move on but the curtains are giving me a pain. Here’s the story:
I died over these blush silk shantung panels at Serena & Lily, but there is ONE left and it’s 84” I first saw them at the M Loves M office I shared on Friday – but they are pricey so maybe it’s good they aren’t available. Soooo, we had to find some alternates.
Here are the contenders that were in stock – AND you get a sneak peek of her room!
After our initial online searches, our first pick was this blush linen panel from Target. They are the perfect shade and match the comforter at the end of her bed. The problem is that it only comes in 84” length! Grrrrrr. About a foot short! So I need to add some fabric on the bottom, maybe with a fringe trim of some sort?? But that also means more work. Target…why only 84”?? I was also hoping for some more pattern, the solid linen may be too…solid.
The picture don’t really show how these Target gold metallic stripe look, but they may be a little too light? $22.49/panel 95”
My first impression when I got these Walmart BH&G in the mail was that they may be a little sassy brassy but then I put them up and liked them much better! And they come in 95” $17.97/panel
And then there are the plain white Ikea Vivan panels – too much white? I love the more sheer look on these though. $9.99 for the pair!
What do you think? Do you have a strong, burning opinion?? I’d love to hear! Or seen anything else around that would look fabulous in her room as we’re trying to finish it up?

Happy May weekend! The weather is BEAUTIFUL here, I can’t wait to get outside ~
You may love Facebook you may despise Facebook, but it can be a fantastic tool. I wanted to share a few tips that you may not know about – that have helped me stay in the loop with my favorite sites.
Pick out your favorite blogs, sites, restaurants, stores, community groups, etc. and go to their Facebook page and make sure you are following them (ahem…hopefully 320 Sycamore?). Once you are following, click on the down arrow next to following and make sure you check “See First.” That means whenever they post something you will see it when you log in to Facebook. Otherwise, it is left to default and the crazy Facebook algorithms and you may miss a lot of the posts from your favorites.
Another feature I love? The Save button on Facebook. So let’s say your friend shares a yummy salmon marinade recipe that you want to save to look at later. You simply click on the little arrow next to Like Page and scroll down to “Save Video” or “Save Post” depending on what it is.
Then, to access your saved items, just look on the left hand side of your Facebook and you will see the saved tab and there you will find all of your awesome saves.
Have you noticed that FB won’t let you save to Pinterest? Annoying! This is the best alternative -- I’ve saved recipes, discussions on good books, parenting, quotes, ideas for church activities, great speeches, etc. It’s an awesome feature and I just wanted to share in case you didn’t know about it. Now go and have an awesome Wednesday ~ any other great Facebook tips we should know about?

Have a great weekend!
We did a simple board and batten treatment on one of the walls in my daughter’s room. It is a super easy way to add a little dimension and character to a room, especially one that’s painted white! Here’s how we did it:

Go to Home Depot and picked up 12 of the 11/16” X 1 1/2” primed mdf (we only used 10 but it’s good to have extra) Figure about one per foot.

And then three of the the 4” craftsman baseboard for the sides and top of the wall – we already had the same size for the baseboard on our bottom.

1. Paint the wall – we used Sherwin-Williams Alabaster. It’s a great white!
2. Cut and attach the baseboard to the top, bottom (if needed), and sides. We use a simple nail gun that we’ve had forever. Measure twice, cut once! I had to make another trip back when I cut a board (or maybe 2!) too short.
3. Then calculate how far apart you want your vertical boards to be, taking in account electrical outlets. Ours are about a foot apart. We used my daughter’s music theory book held horizontally, she was glad we could get some use out of it. Getting the cuts just right so they fit snugly without much of a gap is tricky.
4. Fill in gaps, edges, spaces, and nail holes with latex caulk (we used 2 tubes)
5. Paint over everything with the same color you used to paint the wall.

Her room is coming along, (UPDATE: See the finished room here!) I’m having a hard time finding curtains that work! We also are going through everything that we’ve been stashing in the closet and getting rid of ALOT. It feels so good! Hopefully we’ll be able to share it with you soon --
