another topiary...

11 November 2008

I couldn't resist scheduling my post for 11:11 a.m. on 11/11 :)
I've seen topiaries like these and have loved the simplicity of them:

This is from a Parade of Homes picture my mom took of a little storage nook, but I was kind of drawn to that little topiary. Ready to copy?

I gathered my leftovers from the first topiary, taped the sprigs and a stick together with some florist tape, then spray painted the stick with an espresso color.
Put some real potting soil (do you think I'll fool anyone??) in my little weathered pot, stuck it in and packed the soil tight around it, floof it out a bit, and I'm finished!
Actually, I switched things around a bit. I put this one by the computer because it's smaller
And the larger one in a corner in our bedroom. It basically didn't cost me anything, because it was all leftovers. What do you think? Do you have a preference of the two styles?

  6. Hmmm...I love them both! I think I like the little one because it is a little more wild looking, but I love how the first one turned out too. Such a great copy from Ballard!

  7. They both turned out cute - I think I like the clean round shape of the first one. Target had some topiaries similar to this but covered with cranberries that I am going to try and copy for Christmas deco.

  9. Both are super cute. The non-circular topiary is a break from the typical mold - I like it. :)

  11. That's a hard one -lucky you you get both. I like the wild one. I have one like it next to my kitchen sink. It's supposed to look like rosemary.
