Well, I gots grass! Real live grass!
I first saw it at Miss Holly’s last year and wanted to try it this spring, so I some wheat, soaked it overnight,
put it on top of some potting soil in various containers and it was sprouting in a few days. 
We kept it moist with a spray bottle of water. If you don’t have wheat on hand, you can try regular grass seed, or pick up some wheat at a local health food store or on Ebay. It’s perfect and LIVE for spring. This basket is my favorite because I used more wheat and it came up nice and lush. It hasn’t even been a week yet~look how fast it came up!
These are also fun, but a little more sparse. The Easter Bunny may even hide some eggs in there. I want to try some in my big white wooden tray. Remember bunny from last year?? She likes the grass too.
Since I have a train table in the middle of my living room right now, Thomas and Percy seem to always find their way to the grass as well. 
As far as other spring decor, I really haven’t done much this year with all that’s going on around here, but I did throw some moss and eggs in some mercury glass containers from Christmas clearance.

That grass is FABULOUS!! One other bonus~if you get hungry, you can also EAT your grass for a healthy snack!!:) Sure going to miss you this weekend, but looking forward to seeing you in 6 weeks! Loves!

ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to do that too, and then the holiday creeps up on me so fast that it is too late. Maybe next year. Hey, with wheat grass, you can blend it and have a healthy shooter too. I buy those now and again at my favorite health/smoothie place. Taste icky, but supposed to be very healthy! Happy Spring. ReplyDeleteI think 'grass' is on the mind of many people lately. I just planted up a couple containers of wheatgrass yesterday. A little late for Easter, I know, but I can't wait for it to start sprouting. I check it every couple of hours hoping to see something - silly me!

ReplyDeleteYour grass brought back memories from when my daughter was married 6 years ago. We had clay pots painted in her wedding colors that we painted grass in and then stuck gerber daisies in the accent colors of her wedding in and used these as centerpieces at her receiption. Love your sight and all of her ideals.

ReplyDeleteI have those same mercury glass candlesticks, I think--do they have "jewel" embellishments that you're not showing? Mine do, but I turn those toward the wall. . . love the mercury glass; don't like the embellishment. I'm wondering if you feel the same way!
