Happy September…rabbit!
thank you for your comments about my back to school grief. I decided to wash away my grief in spray paint fumes :)
I found this lamp for $1 at the thrift store…

I added a drum shade from Ross & Martha:

Does it remind you of something? we thought so too…

Remember the mailbox?

We gave it a new coat of red. It’s also for the playroom for fun secret messages, but mostly it gets used as a tunnel for cars.

I love that to add things to the under $10 under 1 hour section….
what would you think about having a little blog party with that theme? Are you game?

  3. Yes! Yes!! Please do a party with that theme. That's one of my favorite categories of your blog (along with all my other favorites, of course--it's hard to pick!). I think a blog party along those lines would be great!

I love your Big Bird lamp. Just the other day I was singing "Cheep, Cheep, Chirp, Chirp, Cheer up, cheer up, cheer up" to myself. We used to have a Sesame Street favorite songs video that featured Big Bird singing that song. :)

I think your mailbox is great, but I find myself thinking that the numbers on the side really ought to be 320....

  4. I'd be up for it, with a little notice to get something together! Plus, it might help me get motivated again, since I feel like I did absolutely nothing creative this Summer {except for working with a client}.

  5. Love, love your Big Bird lamp. $2.99 for that shade. A.maz.ing.

I guess I need to venture into Ross more often. I love it, but here the line is always so long-like 15 to 30 min. long-and that always annoys me so much.

  7. Good Morning Melissa Sweetie...
What a beautiful share today. Is that not the most beautiful BIG Bird of Sunshine you have ever seen? I love it. If it is going in the playroom, and your kids love Sesame Street, why not stencil Big Bird on the lamp base? Using a coloring book you can get some really great images sweetie. His coloring is already there, just outline him on. That would be cute.

Sure looks beautiful either way, and it is another great makeover.

Thanks for sharing sweetie. I love it when you do. It gets my juices to flowing.

    Country hugs, Sherry

  12. Love the idea of a blog party and I really love your lamp. I always check the lamp section at my local thrift store, waiting for a (cheap) lamp to catch my eye.....I need one for the table in my studio. I LOVE the yellow, great color choice!

  14. I could find plenty of projects around my house to fit in that party. :) Love the lamp! I can't believe that shade was only $2.99!!! I'm glad you painted the mailbox red, that's the first color I thought it should be.

  16. I would LOVE a party with that theme!! I am just getting started and am a "virgin" painter. =) Never painted anything in my life - yikes! I'm a bit scared to pick up a can of spray paint. But I have a feeling I'm going to be hooked, I've been devouring your blog and every other one that I've found.

One question: do you know of a good forum where I can go to ask simple (read: dumb!) questions and read about other's suggestions, etc? Seems like there's got to be a good one out there somewhere that is as helpful as your blog is! =)

  19. This exat lamp was in my local Goodwill a few days ago. It was in my cart...but I took it out as I like pairs.

You've done an excellent job with yours!
