autumn walk

28 October 2010

So, for the past few weeks, I was watching the leaves begin to change and I kept thinking, “okay, this is nice, but where is the autumn in Virginia that everyone can’t stop talking about?”
Then, last week something amazing happened. I can’t believe what’s around us!

Where we live, there are no sidewalks, but they have built a series of connecting paths behind the neighborhoods. It was so gorgeous, we left the stroller and I just let them run:october 2010 075 3

melts my heart. sometimes you have to force cherished photos.
thank you! yes, now you can run:october 2010 085 1  october 2010 096 1october 2010 106 1
you think that’s the last fall foliage picture you’ll see?? No way. I’ve been toting my camera around everywhere, screeching on the brakes, parking in illegal zones, taking my mom mobile off road, and having people shaking their heads wondering what in the hey I’m doing. It’s too gorgeous not to capture. I feel like I should have a bumper sticker:
It’s her first autumn in Virginia…just keep moving.

  1. I could just weep. I miss Autumn, we don't have it here. Really, we don't. Well, maybe some of the needles fall off the cacti, but who wants a picture of that?

  15. Breathtaking, stunning, beautful! Where I live our trees don't turn like that (it's pretty much summer 7 out of the 12 months). You should definitely develop those pictures!

  21. Hurray!! :) The colors are late in coming out in my area of Virginia. Now that the trees are finally changing color, they are losing leaves quickly too!

  25. Your pictures are gorgeous!! But...I can't believe that some people don't think that Utah is beautiful in autumn! Since the 2nd week of September, my husband and I have taken a "leaf ride" every weekend. From Ogden Canyon over to the Trapper's Loop, Sardine and Logan Canyons, and even down to central Utah through the canyons of Richfield, Helper and over Soldier's Summit, I have been so overwhelmed with the beauty of our state. I think sometimes we just need to open our eyes. Love your blog!!

  34. Very Very Very breathtakingly beautiful! Awesome pictures and so glad to hear you are enjoying the Fall weather. Down here in the South the drought we had over the summer has made our fall leaf foliage not so great, but there are a few nice trees to look at. Thanks for sharing! ~Iris~
