Oh wait, we’ve got to back and look at the BEFORE!
Do you know what I love? When the rest of the house is in chaos (okay, maybe I don’t love that?), the kitchen is hot and messy, and I come into our bedroom and the bed is made, it is cool from the fan, and it is quiet. Sometimes I shut the door and try to soak in the calm before I go back to the madness. You know I adore my kids, I love our whole family, we have kid & family pics and art plastered all over the house, but I wanted our bedroom just to be us. No pictures of the kids or work, or anything else, just a reminder of how we began and where we’ll end.
Mostly, I’m proud of myself for cleaning off my nightstand. Yea, it looks all calm and peaceful and super easy to put together, but it wasn’t. :)
You can see lots more info with sources, prices, etc. here.
Headboard is on my list. Where did u find?
ReplyDeleteLoving the headboard and curtains
ReplyDeleteWhat is the wall paint color? Love.
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Totally copying some of this. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery, right?
ReplyDeleteOk, I am in love with you...or at least your blog. You do amazing things!!! Your style is exactly what I like. Wowww....can't wait to see more...and also follow your lead. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful job Melissa! I love everything about your room and all of the natural colors you used. It's so peaceful and calm, I wouldn't want to leave my room :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love, love, love your new peaceful retreat! Amazing job!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so restful I think I am getting a bit sleepy! LOL. Great job, Melissa. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE this re-do! It's organized, comfy, serene, and chic! Great job! Beautiful inspiration for others, as well! :)
ReplyDeleteI love every single part of it! Well done.
ReplyDeleteCan a bedroom be swanky *and* serene at the same time? Because you totally nailed it, girl. Gorgeous.
ReplyDelete(someday I'll change out our bedroom hollow core door for a solid one. 2 inches of oak is the only thing that would keep our bedroom "quiet" - ha!)
Beautiful job, as always! Maybe someday I will actually glean enough from you to start decorating too. :) Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI love it! It is exactly what you hoped for -- calm & peaceful looking!
ReplyDeleteOne of these days, I'm going to get my bed to look like yours -- super designer-like & high end!
it is wheat bread by behr. More info here: http://www.320sycamoreblog.com/2012/05/master-bedroom-details-and-pricing.html
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I do have a tip though, for the window. If you move the blind up to meet the curtain rod, it will make your window feel taller and not so low to the ground.
ReplyDeleteAwesome remodels.
MELISSA! It looks wonderful! You've done a great job in there, and I think you've met your goals beautifully. Your little projects that weren't very expensive add up to very high-end look. I'm looking forward to your post totalling up the cost of everything--I love it when you do that. :)
ReplyDeleteI also love your mention of the fan. I know chandeliers are all the rage, but a ceiling fan is a blessing straight from heaven, I think! :)

ReplyDeleteOh, I love it. This is exactly the feel I want in the guest room. Heck, any room! It just seems so peaceful. Great job.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! That's how our bedroom is. It was the fist room I put together when we moved in and when the rest of the house was boxes of chaos, our bedroom was our retreat from it all.
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! A perfect retreat. Love the tufted headboard. Did you make it?
ReplyDeleteConsider yourself PINNED!!! What a wonderful job! You should be proud. Stop by and see me still painting away!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful bedroom. It feels so calm and relaxing. You did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I love the sentiment of keeping your room, yours. "
ReplyDeletehow we began and where we’ll end"
BEAUTIFUL job Melissa! I LOVE how you said it, "Just a reminder of where we began and where we will end!" It also thrills me to see the pic of you and H with you holding Lauren because I took that!:) Wish I could come jump on your bed and relax with you!:) Loves!
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Very serene and calming. Love all the little touches.
ReplyDeleteI adore your style of decor so much but this room, is abso gorgeous. I mean it. It is so calm......I can actually feel the calm through the computer. Just beautiful. And I am in total agreement of the no kids pics in the master bedroom. We do the same thing, the rest of my home is plastered with kids pics and artwork but our room is just for us. You have created a wonderful retreat and with five children, you completely deserve it. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's to cleaning off our nightstands! This is the one room that I've put off til last - need to get cracking on it!

It looks great, Melissa! I love the wall color you chose and those drapes are gorgeous. Love the headboard and the mirror over it, too. What a wonderful retreat you've created. I'm still working on ours. This week, in fact. Painting and sewing going in here!
