Well, hello! It’s about time, isn’t it? Life has gotten a bit crazy~the work in the basement is in full force, (which is good!) and I thought I would love picking out flooring, a fireplace, windows, fixtures, etc. but I’m really not. I’m always second guessing myself and I think it’s because in the past I’ve had months and months to collect things at yard sales and thrift stores to create a room, and now I feel like I’m kind of throwing it all together. Plus, I love to research things before making a decision (vented or ventless fireplace? Which toilet does Consumer Reports report as best? What kind of lighting in the family room? Arrggghh!)
ANYWAY, who cares about all that: here is what I turned the table into! I’ve been working on it here and there between everything:
Before: (coffee table cut in half with bad yellow lighting)
After: I’ll show you how I did it in an upcoming post (UPDATE: here is the post on how I did it)
but we are loving them. The little ones can climb up to get to their coats now, (my baby loves climbing up and pulling them down) and I’m putting baskets in the bottom for shoes. The trick now is getting the shoes INTO the baskets :)
As you see, I’m also trying to figure out a paint color for the walls.
Happy March, Happy Tuesday, and I hope you said rabbit yesterday!
My husband came home from work and said, “I like that coffee table in the garage.”
I smiled.
He said, “Oh no….you have plans.”
He loves my plans. :)
Just wanted to give you a heads up: remember how I mark sales on my calendar? I had the past few weeks all starred up to look out for Target’s domestics clearance and our store had some great markdowns. Do those orange stickers just make your heart start beating faster?? A few things I threw in then madly ran to the next aisle to see what else was waiting for me casually tossed into my basket:
A pair of ivory sailcloth window panels: $8.48
A pair of ivory sailcloth window panels: $8.48
I’m sure y’all have heard this song (I am so far behind the times when it comes to music) but I heard it for the first time this week in the car and the tears just wouldn’t stop. I had to pull over and pull myself together. She sings a beautiful truth:
:And for fun~do you remember this performance she gave on American Idol? My favorite~I wish she would put it on her next album. You have to hear what Simon had to say afterward. Smartypants :)
Have a great weekend!
I put all of your wonderful moving tips into one place to create the ultimate moving guide. If they want to publish us, we’ll split the royalty 27 ways :) Mine are here and without further ado, here are yours:
First Things First
Start packing as soon as possible! ~Amanda
~if you know you'll be moving soon, start decluttering now. It will make things much easier in the long run. ~linda
As you are packing get rid of things you don't need, never use or are broken. Don't hold on to anything that you wouldn't love to see in your next house. And when you unpack get rid of a few more things. Less to pack and less to put away. ~SewsCute
My best advice would be to make it a point to clean everything out before you pack. If you find stuff and just stuff in into a box, knowing full well that you haven't used it in years then you are just taking up useful space!!!! Pack with a trash bag and a donation bag next to your packing boxes. Then at the end of the day, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you are actually ONLY packing things that you and your family need and USE. If you've got to pack up anyhow, why not use it as a chance to spring clean? ~Becky
