    awesome tips!

    26 August 2011

Well, you may not think they are awesome, but I sure did. Just a few random things that I didn’t know (you probably already know) but just in case, I’ve gotta share:
    1. I discovered last winter that most of our Wii games were horribly scratched and wouldn’t play. We laid down the law and told the kids that if they wanted to play, they would have to pay for new games with their own money. (do your kids put the discs back when they are finished?!? arghhhh…such a pet peeve of mine) My daughter asked if anybody fixed wii games..and I didn’t know. We googled around a bit and found Azura Disc and figured it was worth a try? So, we sent in 7 discs, they were able to make 6 as good as new for around $27 total shipped. It was like Christmas when they got the games back. I have no affiliation whatsoever with them…but they are my kids’ new best friends!

    Floyd, VA

    24 August 2011

The kids and I took one more little day trip before school started: to Floyd, VA! I had heard lots of about Schoolhouse Fabrics and wanted to check it out. It’s an old schoolhouse they have made into a huge fabric shop.august 2011 001 1

I found these shoes when I was visiting in Utah: ($5)august 2011 028

And wished I could bring this table home with me…I think it would be a perfect desk/work table! may 2011 026 1

    A tackle box for the boys’ room: $1august 2011 033 1

This big print was in a pile marked free in front of a house. It has a chip on the left side, but if I paint the frame I don’t think it would be noticeable. I am thinking maybe a chalkboard for the master bedroom? Hmmm…august 2011 035 1

    A big old milk glass vase: $3august 2011 040 1

Another big print (upside down!)~I’m thinking it could be a candidate for some cool subway art in the family room?? $5

    caught my eye 8.19.11

    19 August 2011

Didn’t get to one caught my eye post the whole summer! It’s good to be back:

I love all these diy growth charts I’ve been seeing around! Here is one from 517 Creations:cme

We made these on the first day of school, and if you are the chewy chocolate chip cookie type, you’ll love these!august 2011 004 1

Love this tutorial from John’s Journal: how to cover bamboo roman shades with fabric. They are fully functional!cme 2

And now, if you’ll excuse me, I may just go paint something yellow…

    framed {clip} display

    18 August 2011

I needed some major motivation to get back into projects/the kitchen when the kids started school yesterday. I saw this little project at Shanty 2 Chic, then, of course I pinned it, and thought it would be the perfect Under $10 Under 1 Hour to try to get my mojo back on.
Here we go~half hour tops: promise (if you have all the supplies on hand)
    1. plug in your glue gun
    2. go out and spray paint a frame. I used a dark gray Valspar metallic color I found at Michael’s on clearance for 1.99.
