One of my favorite features at 320 Sycamore is the annual “Some Things I’ve Learned About Being a Mom.” Last year I wrote about being a Mom and here are the past articles – wonderful posts from some extraordinary women with different backgrounds and mothering styles. It’s perfect reading for Mother’s Day weekend!
Today, I’m going to share some things I’ve learned from my own Mom about being a Mom. Here name is Susan, I call her Shuze (don’t even know how that came to be) Right now, we are missing her – she is in Tahiti serving a church mission with my Dad for 18 months, but thank goodness for google hangouts!
I found 2 of these dressers at a local thrift store for $25 each. I loved them because they were lower for my 2 youngest boys to reach, they were solid wood with dovetail drawers, and they were matching—there were 2!
The prep always seems to take longest but is the most important step – taking out the drawers, removing hardware, wiping them down, and sanding rough edges.

Oooh, this was a tough one. There are so many good choices out there these days! Here are some favorites that I narrowed down to that were under $5 each. Except, I lied. As I was typing this up, I realized #6 was $5.97. But I really don’t want to go back into photoshop and re-do, so will you let it pass?
#4 was in our Virginia home (love them!) and I’ll run over and take pictures of what we chose for the kitchen in our new home to show you. Nope, we still haven’t moved in, but working on it and hope it is very soon!
Do any of these catch your eye? Or link up favorites you have found in the comments – I do love a good pull, knob or handle!
I wish we would have discovered them 8 months ago!! Buy the good ones, trust me.
