* Home Depot has some crazy good deals this weekend -- these are all while supplies last!
* my home depot is matching Lowe’s -- they both have 5 for $10 mulch this weekend!
I used to be a big couponer -- get 5 copies of the Sunday paper, do the whole free stuff after rebates at Walgreens & CVS, shop grocery store sales and stack coupons and get stuff practically for free at the grocery store. I had friends that were totally into it with me and it was always a fun time going out with them to get our deals. Honestly, thinking about it all now makes me tired but I still love to save money in other ways. We live in an area that gets lots of coupons and the ones I save are for pizza, car washes, oil changes, etc. for places that we visit anyway or new ones we want to try on a date.
I LOVE this from Remodelaholic: how to update your kitchen if you can’t (or don’t want to) paint the cabinets
Before the kids come home, sometimes it’s good to open the fridge and see what you need to get rid of. I had some pears that were getting really soft, some big pieces of cheese that were drying out on the edges (because someone who shall not be named forgot to close the package) and a huge box of crackers from Costco that no one never seemed interested in.
I cut them up, put them out, and everything was gone in a few minutes. They get a snack, you don’t waste food, everyone is happy.
If you put it out, they will eat it.
At least my kids will -- most of the time.
I *try* (key word here is try) to do the same thing with meal planning -- I see what I have, what needs to be used and try to plan around that. It will save you money and kids won’t be opening every door and cabinet wondering what there is to eat.

A thrifting tip: when you are at thrift stores or yard sales, feel the throw pillows. They may be as ugly as sin (actually, this would have fit perfectly in my living room 10 years ago!), but if they have down inserts you’ll want them! Just cut them open,
What’s fun about doing dishes?
Nothing.
But what if you brighten your sink area with soap in pretty containers and you display it on a little pedestal instead letting them hiding under the dark sink? I totally stole this idea from my friend Robin’s instagram!
Tip: you don’t have to refill with the expensive stuff -- Dawn makes a clear dish soap too.
