I’m trying to catch my breath from getting back from Thanksgiving festivities, so here’s an oldie but goodie. Enjoy (again!)
We love Christmas books and love reading them together. I wrap 25 books and number them, and each night we unwrap a book and read it together. Some are funny, some are silly, some are classics, and some are so touching they make me cry every time. It doesn't matter if we get back home super late or how crazy the day has been, it's just a great way to quietly finish each of the nights before Christmas. Plus, what a great incentive for getting teeth brushed and jammies on quickly so we can unwrap a book! :) On Christmas Eve we unwrap the scriptures to read the accounts of Christ's birth.
Heather sent us Vermont! Her blog, Decor 4 Poor, has some great ideas:
I love what she did with an old record cabinet:
I know you are all probably all ready for Thanksgiving (tomorrow!), but here was a super duper popular project from last year:
The Dollar Tree Glass Hurricanes Cost: $3.00

Here are some deals that caught my eye:

they sent me the laptop, I give you my honest thoughts about it:
It was a BEAST. Half the keys were missing (I let the kids play a game in their room on it, they left it out, and my baby found it) and it was so SLOW.
Some GREAT appliance deals going on right now!
Check out Home Depot’s Pre-Black Friday Appliance Sale! (lowest prices of the year!)
We got our gas convection range: Maytag self cleaning, convection oven $598 + free shipping (also available in electric)
We don’t “need” a refrigerator, but I know some of you are on the hunt:
Tons more, front loading washers, dryers, other appliances, depends on what you’re looking for…other stuff on sale as well!

There are a few more things I wanted to add this year:
I can’t tell you how much I love this book. My mom showed it to me when she was visiting last spring. It has the neatest experiences of people living in the Great Depression. I love reading of how they helped one another, how they “made do” with everything. It brings me back to a simpler time, and is a beautiful reminder that happiness doesn’t come from things …just remember that as we’re sharing “things today :)
(it looks like Amazon is out of it right now, but check Ebay or Half.com!)
Look at these colors! I dub Brooke, from All Things Thrifty, the queen of color. She uses it boldly and it pays off:
I love the quote on her blog: "Creativity takes courage."~Henri Mattisse.

She has a talent (that I am completely jealous of) of bringing bold pops of color together to completely finish a room and give it new life. I am going to try to get my “All Things Thrifty mindset” on as I tackle my kids’ rooms and family room and try to be more daring with color, because I could look at her photos all day. She also has 3 beautiful kids and is expecting #4 in January!
Here are some great questions to get to know Brooke
Did you see what they did on their backyard blockwall?
This girl does wonders with her projector.
Her $12 leaf stenciled wall..such a big impact for so little $$!
She has tons of step by step tutorials as well …so excited to have her visiting today :)

A big, warm welcome to Shelley from House of Smith’s for Day 3 of Favorite Things!
Such an adorable family. Shelley is amazing with all of her ideas and enthusiasm for her projects. You can feel her energy just by reading her blog. Look at this gorgeousness:
Have you seen her splendid Christmas display??
She’s famous for her vinyl creations and her PANTRY!
You can see her home tour here. Thou shalt not covet.
You can see her live (on TV segments!) here
And I love that she’s not afraid to keep it real: A Bit of Crazy
You will love her.
Welcome to the 2nd day of favorite things! I am thrilled to welcome my fabulous friend, Rhoda of Southern Hospitality, over to my place today. Rhoda is classic, beautiful, wise, and kind. She was one of the first to warmly welcome me into blogging. She shares my love of yard sales and has a thrifty treasures linky party every Monday in the spring and summer. I love the stories the layers in her home tell, and she is not afraid to try new things. Mostly, I love her because she introduced me to beadboard wallpaper! Now, don’t you be go going and calling her Rhonda, it’s R-H-O-D-A, without an “n.” :)
Take it away, Rhoda:

My heart was touched when Tiffanie sent me the New York plate and the story of her husband, Mike. He is 25 years old and has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. He serves our country in the Army National Guard and as a Grand Island volunteer firefighter. Tiffanie let me know that the doctors have found a bone marrow donor for Mike and his transplant is scheduled for November 13—tomorrow! You can read their story and make a donation here , and I am asking all of you wonderful readers to keep Mike in your prayers as he goes in for his transplant tomorrow.
Thank you again, Tiffanie for the plate and for sharing your story with us~we’ll be thinking of you both tomorrow!
First of all, Happy Veterans Day! Thank you to all of our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much for the world and this country. Here is a list of free restaurant offers and deals for veterans or active duty military at the Coupon Divas for you.

So, start thinking of your favorite books, lip gloss, recipe, kitchen gadget, cd, clothing item…the possibilities are endless! The week of the party, I’ll be featuring some bloggers who will share their favorite things as well. I can’t wait!
Also, ‘tis the season for deals. Some of the ones I shared on Tuesday are still going on, and here are a few more that may help with your shopping list:

So, when I find great deals I’ll try to pass them along and maybe some will help you with your list? I promise I’ll only pass along deals I will do myself or I would share with my sisters.
Here we go:
Bath and Body Works has a $10 off $30 purchase printable here, or you can use HOLIDAY30 at checkout online.
Amazon has Real Simple 1 Year Subscription for $10 ! Love this magazine…you can also renew your subscription if you already have one (click on special offers next to the 1 year subscription).
