Good morning! Actually -- this post is about mornings. Our day begins at 6:10 when our oldest gets up to be out the door at 6:45 for carpool. I’m learning that anything that can be done the night before seems to pave the way for a smoother morning. Something that has helped our morning prep time a lot with our girls showering at night. Mostly because they have long hair and it gives them time for it to dry, to braid it for waves, etc.
I have half an hour until the next shift comes up for breakfast/scriptures at 7:15. That is usually my quiet time to read, go over calendar and plan for the day. I’m amazed at how different children can be with waking up. One is like clockwork. The alarm goes off, he’s up and out to the kitchen. My baby (okay, he’s 6 now) still loves to be sleep as long as possible and be carried out to the table with his kitty blanket. Some mornings we are in the older kids’ bedrooms a couple of times trying to get them up and out.
Breakfast is random -- it’s usually cereal, oatmeal, smoothies, toast + cheesy eggs, or an egg sandwich. For special mornings we like to make baked oatmeal (a recipe from my mother-in-law) with blueberries or crepes (a recipe from my dad).
For crazy mornings, we love to keep these on hand: Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches! I buy the boxes at Costco.
Hello! Utah finally decided to have winter, now that it is March. I know you eastern and southern folks are sick of hearing winter so let's talk about something else.
Waaaaayyyy back in Texas in 2009 I found these 2 cool airplane prints for $1 each at a yard sale. I loved them so I studied the signature in the corner and thought it said Biederman, so searched for the artist. It turns out that Jerome Biederman painted World War 2 planes and cars and I happened to find a calendar from 1981 that was full of his paintings on Ebay and bought it. And then saved it for 5 years!!

You may remember the orange chair that I scored from Craigslist when we lived in Virginia. We removed the skirt to update the feel of it, but I had a few more things in my boys’ room stash to add here.
Piano books everywhere. A mess. So, I was thrilled to find some more of these magazine holders, this time at Tuesday Morning. The first ones I found were at TJ Maxx, I have also seen them at Ross. They have been the perfect solution for keeping them corralled -- when they put them away after they practice. Ha! Ask how often that happens. But at least we have a place for them when it’s cleanup time. :)
I just did the number thing again with the years they were born - the font is Engravers MT, my favorite one for numbers.

Hello! So, Valentine’s Day is this Saturday and I just barely put heart decor out this weekend! That’s okay, I’m just happy that it even happened. I have the landmark decision to just decorate my porch for holidays like Halloween, Valentines, 4th of July -- it makes it much more do-able for me and is still fun. I heard these beautiful words at a church women’s conference weekend. They are from Elder Holland’s book For Times of Trouble: Spiritual Solace From The Psalms. It refers to Psalms 17:8: "Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings."
