* I loved this article from Jen Hatmaker last year: Worst End of School Year Mom Ever and also
this one from Buzzfeed: Parents at the beginning of the year and end of the school year.
Greek Pasta Salad from Just a Taste:
If you remember from our home plans, we have a front porch! I’ve never had a front porch before, so this was so much fun. While things are getting finished up on the inside, I decided to make the front porch a little more inviting:

First up was an old library cart I bought from the online classifieds for $15:
Hello, friends! We just moved into our new home this past weekend. It feels so good to be in one spot and not to be driving back and forth between our rental and the house, the schools and everything over here. We are up to our ears in moving boxes and craziness, so I’m going to show you pictures of the only room that isn’t chaotic right now: the master bathroom. This room is long and skinny (you can see it on the floor plan here) so taking pictures was a trick, but please come in!
We went with the darker wood cabinets to give a little contrast to the sea of gray and white.
Did you know that wood stained cabinets are actually less expensive than paint grade cabinets?? Because they don’t have to be perfect and smooth like you expect white cabinets to be. Imperfections and knots are perfectly acceptable.
For the counters, we went with a carrara marble. We had it in our bathroom in Virginia and we loved it, so we chose it again. It is softer and scratches and etches easily so I would NOT recommend it for high traffic areas or kids’ bathrooms, but I figured my husband and I could handle it. The cabinet hardware is from the Jeffrey Alexander Belcastel collection.
It’s almost been a year since we’ve been here and we are loving it. As with any move, you can’t help but notice the customs and little tendencies about your new state:
10. It is so family friendly and deal friendly – family passes and discounts everywhere. The pool, bumper boats, discount theaters, miniature golf, baseball and basketball games. There are always good deals to be found!
We are moving in this week! So, I haven’t collected a lot of Caught My Eye, but here are some deals for you – these are the prices when I hit publish, they can change or run out at anytime:

One of my favorite features at 320 Sycamore is the annual “Some Things I’ve Learned About Being a Mom.” Last year I wrote about being a Mom and here are the past articles – wonderful posts from some extraordinary women with different backgrounds and mothering styles. It’s perfect reading for Mother’s Day weekend!
Today, I’m going to share some things I’ve learned from my own Mom about being a Mom. Here name is Susan, I call her Shuze (don’t even know how that came to be) Right now, we are missing her – she is in Tahiti serving a church mission with my Dad for 18 months, but thank goodness for google hangouts!
I found 2 of these dressers at a local thrift store for $25 each. I loved them because they were lower for my 2 youngest boys to reach, they were solid wood with dovetail drawers, and they were matching—there were 2!
The prep always seems to take longest but is the most important step – taking out the drawers, removing hardware, wiping them down, and sanding rough edges.
Brooke at All Things Thrifty office makeover:
* a side yard makeover from Tonya at A Love of Family and Home:

Oooh, this was a tough one. There are so many good choices out there these days! Here are some favorites that I narrowed down to that were under $5 each. Except, I lied. As I was typing this up, I realized #6 was $5.97. But I really don’t want to go back into photoshop and re-do, so will you let it pass?
#4 was in our Virginia home (love them!) and I’ll run over and take pictures of what we chose for the kitchen in our new home to show you. Nope, we still haven’t moved in, but working on it and hope it is very soon!
Do any of these catch your eye? Or link up favorites you have found in the comments – I do love a good pull, knob or handle!
I wish we would have discovered them 8 months ago!! Buy the good ones, trust me.
Welcome to the last weekend of April and the latest edition of CME! Please be considerate and click on over to the sites and pin directly from the original blogs – thank you!
